Impact on the System

Possible Causes

  • Cause 1: The interface receives an all-0 source MAC address.
  • Cause 2: The interface receives an all-0 destination MAC address.

  • After receiving the first packet with an all-0 source MAC address or destination MAC address, the device discards the packet and sends an alarm to the NMS. When receiving other packets with the same MAC address, the device does not send any alarm to the NMS and discards the packets directly. To enable the device to generate the alarm again, you need to run the drop illegal-mac alarm command to clear the previous alarm.
