(Optional) Configuring an Auto VPN RR

(Optional) Configuring an Auto VPN RR

Configuring an auto VPN VPN RR helps minimize the number of Tunnel-encap-ext peer relationships on a network and simplify configuration.

Context

After an RR is configured on a network, auto VPN peer relationships are established only between PEs and the RR. This helps minimize the number of auto VPN peer relationships on the network and simplify configuration. You can configure an existing device on the network as an RR or add a device to function as a standalone RR.

Perform the following steps on the device that is to function as an RR.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run bgp as-number

    The BGP view is displayed.

  3. Run ipv4-family tunnel-encap-ext

The BGP Tunnel-encap-ext IPv4 address family is enabled, and its view is displayed.

  4. Run peer { ipv4-address | group-name } enable

The capability to exchange auto VPN routes with the specified peer or peer group is enabled.

  5. Run peer { ipv4-address | group-name } reflect-client

The local device is configured as an RR, and a peer or peer group is specified as the RR client.
