Applying for a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS Disk

The system disk and data disk are applied for with a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS. The system disk does not need to be created separately. You can create a data disk and attach it to the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.


  • A HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk has been brought online.

    Operation administrators, VDC administrators, or agent administrators can bring products online.

  • If Data Source is set to Snapshot, ensure that a snapshot has been created. For details, see Creating a Snapshot.


  1. Use a browser to log in to the ManageOne operation plane as a VDC administrator, a VDC operator, or an agent administrator.

  2. In the left part of the main menu, select a region and a project.
  1. Choose Console > Storage > Elastic Volume Service(HWS) from the main menu.
  2. Click Apply for Disk.
  3. Select the desired HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk and click Apply Now.
  4. On the displayed page, configure basic information about the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk as described in Figure 5-2.

    Table 5-2 describes the parameters.

    Indicates the region where the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk is located. You can click the current region name in the upper left corner to switch the region.

    Availability Zone

    Indicates the AZ where the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk belongs.

    Data Source

    Select the data source of the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk.

    • None: Indicates that a new HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk that contains no other data will be created.
    • Snapshot: Indicates that a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk will be created from the snapshot. After the creation, the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk has the snapshot data in the initial state.


    Indicates the capacity of the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk.

    Sharing Type

    Indicates the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk sharing type. Select Non-shared or Shared. If you select Shared, the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk can be attached to multiple HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs.

    Disk Type

    Indicates the disk type. Select the disk type as desired.

    Disk Mode

    Indicates the mode of the EVS disk, which can be either of the following:

    • VBD: indicates the Virtual Block Device (VBD) mode.

      EVS disks in VBD mode support only basic SCSI read/write commands.

    • SCSI: indicates the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) mode.

      EVS disks in SCSI mode support transparent SCSI command transmission and allow the server OS to directly access the underlying storage media. Besides basic read/write SCSI commands, such EVS disks also support advanced SCSI commands.


    Indicates the name of the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk, which is automatically generated by the system and can be modified.

    Quantity Applied For

    Select the number of HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disks that you want to apply for.

    Billing Mode

    Indicates the billing mode. You can select the optimal billing mode (yearly, monthly, or on-demand) based on your cloud resource usage time requirements.

    The billing modes supported in different regions may vary.

    Duration Applied For

    Set the duration for using the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk.

  5. Click Submit.
  6. After the order is submitted successfully, you can view the order status on the My Orders page.


    When publishing or bringing a product of HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disks online, you can set approvals for applying for, modifying, deleting, and extending the product, as well as adding the resources to the recycle bin and restoring the resources from the recycle bin.

    • If Yes in the Approve column corresponding to the Apply for approval item is selected, after you submit the order for applying for the HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk, contact the approver included in the order details. The approver can approve the order on the My Approvals page. After being approved, the order is automatically executed.
    • Otherwise, the system automatically executes the order after the application order is submitted.
