Attaching a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS Disk

Attaching a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS Disk

After applying for a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk, attach it to a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS. You can detach the original system disk and then attach another system disk to the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS, or attach data disks to the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.

Prerequisites

  • If you want to detach the original system disk and attach another system disk to the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS, ensure that the image of the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS before the system disk change is the same as that after the system disk change.
  • A HUAWEI CLOUD ECS can have only one system disk attached. If you need to attach another system disk to the ECS, ensure that the original system disk has been detached.
  • HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disks can be attached to a running or stopped HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.

Procedure

  1. Use a browser to log in to the ManageOne operation plane as a VDC administrator, a VDC operator, or an agent administrator.

In the non-B2B scenario, the login address format is https://Address for accessing the Console page, for example, https://console.type.com.

In the B2B scenario, the login address format is https://Address used by VDC users to access the ManageOne operation plane, for example, https://console.type.com.

  2. In the left part of the main menu, select a region and a project.
  3. Choose Console > Storage > Elastic Volume Service(HWS) from the main menu.
  4. Locate the row that contains the target HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk and click Attach. In the displayed dialog box, select the mount point of the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS, for example, /dev/xvdb.

The mount point of the system disk can only be /dev/sda or /dev/vda.

  5. Click OK.

    NOTE:

If Data Source of a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk is None, the disk is a newly created one and needs to be formatted. If Data Source is set to Snapshot, formatting is not required.

For details about how to format a HUAWEI CLOUD EVS disk, see Initializing the Data Disk (in the Windows OS) or Initializing the Data Disk (in the Linux OS).
