Applying for HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs

Applying for HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs

Compared with physical servers, ECS creation costs are low, and on-demand scalable ECSs that are based on the cloud platform can be quickly obtained. If services need to be deployed on a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS, you need to apply for a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS first.

Prerequisites

  • A HUAWEI CLOUD ECS has been brought online.

Operation administrators, VDC administrators, or agent administrators can bring products online.

  • HUAWEI CLOUD ECS configuration (such as key, ECS group, VPN, and security group) has been completed. For detailed operations, see Configuration.

Procedure

  1. Use a browser to log in to the ManageOne operation plane as a VDC administrator, a VDC operator, or an agent administrator.

In the non-B2B scenario, the login address format is https://Address for accessing the Console page, for example, https://console.type.com.

In the B2B scenario, the login address format is https://Address used by VDC users to access the ManageOne operation plane, for example, https://console.type.com.

  2. In the left part of the main menu, select a region and a project.
  3. Choose Console > Computing > Elastic Cloud Server(HWS) from the main menu.
  4. On the displayed page, click Apply for ECS in the upper right corner.
  5. In the displayed product list, select the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS to be applied for and click Apply Now.
  6. Set parameters for the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS based on Figure 4-4, Figure 4-5, and Figure 4-6.

Most information on the Apply for ECS page has been preset. You can use the preset data or modify the information as prompted.

    Figure 4-4 Configuring the flavor
Figure 4-5 Configuring capacity and security information
Figure 4-6 Configuring advanced information and application duration

Table 4-4 describes the parameters for applying for a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.

    Table 4-4 ECS parameter description

    Parameter

    Description

    Region

Indicates the region where the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS is located. You can click in the upper left corner to switch the region.

    Availability Zone

Indicates the AZ to which the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS belongs.

    ECS Type

Select an ECS type based on the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS performance requirements.

    vCPU

Indicates the vCPU specifications. Select the required value.

    Memory

    Indicates the memory size.

    Image Type

Indicates the image type of the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS. You can create a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS using an image to improve the production efficiency.

    Image

Select an image based on the operating system (OS) and specifications of the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS to be created.

You can contact operation administrators to log in to the HUAWEI CLOUD console using the HUAWEI CLOUD account to create an image. The image information can be synchronized to the private cloud. You can choose Console > Elastic Cloud Server(HWS) > Image Management Service(HWS) to view the image information.

    System Disk

Set the capacity and disk type as required.

The system disk is automatically created when a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS is created.

    Data Disk

Set the capacity and disk type as required.

Data disks can be shared by multiple HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs. You can set the data disks as required.

    Security group

Select a security group for the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS to define the internal and external security access policies of the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.

    VPC

Indicates the isolated VPN selected for the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.

    NIC

You need to bind a subnet to a NIC of a HUAWEI CLOUD ECS and assign an IP address for the NIC so that it can connect to the subnet.

You can also click Add NIC to set multiple extended NICs for the HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs to connect to multiple subnets.

    Login Mode

The parameter value can be either of the following: Key pair is recommended because it features higher security than Password.

    • Password:

A username and its initial password are used for ECS login authentication.

The initial password of the root user is used for authentication in Linux, while that of the Administrator user is used for authentication in Windows. After the application is successful, you can log in to the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS to change the initial password.

    • Key pair: A key pair is used for ECS login authentication.

Ensure that a key pair has been created. For details, see Creating a Key Pair.

    Advanced Configuration

After you select Configure now, the ECS Group drop-down list is displayed.

You can select an ECS group to join. The ECSs in the same ECS group are centrally scheduled and managed according to the policy of the ECS group.

    ECS Name

The value is automatically generated by the system and can be changed.

    Quantity Applied For

You can apply for multiple HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs at a time.

    Billing Mode

Indicates the billing mode. You can select the optimal billing mode based on your cloud resource usage time requirements.

The billing modes supported in different regions may vary.

    Duration Applied For

Select the duration for using the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS.

  7. After setting the parameters, click Submit.
  8. After the order is submitted successfully, you can view the order status on the My Orders page.

    NOTE:

When publishing or bringing a product of HUAWEI CLOUD ECSs online, you can set approvals for applying for, modifying, deleting, and extending the product, as well as adding the resources to the recycle bin and restoring the resources from the recycle bin.

    • If Yes in the Approve column corresponding to the Apply for approval item is selected, after you submit the order for applying for the HUAWEI CLOUD ECS, contact the approver included in the order details. The approver can approve the order on the My Approvals page. After being approved, the order is automatically executed.
    • Otherwise, the system automatically executes the order after the application order is submitted.
