Installing the eSight Platform and Components

Installing the eSight Platform and Components

This section describes how to install the eSight platform and components on the SUSE Linux operating system.

  • You must install eSight of the same version on the primary and secondary servers.
  • The components installed on the primary and secondary servers must be the same.
  • During the installation, the system automatically detects whether the OpenSSH service is enabled. If no, the system forcibly enables the OpenSSH service.
  • When the installation is complete, the system creates a common user for the operating system. The user name is ossuser and its default password is Changeme_123. To change the password, see the section Security Maintenance > Password Change >Changing the OS User Password > Changing the Password of the User for Linux in Maintenance Guide of eSight.

  1. Log in to the eSight server as the root user.
  2. Run the following commands:

    # hares -online FloatIP -sys <Name of the host to install eSight>

    # hares -online Netlsnr -sys <Name of the host to install eSight>

    # hares -online RVGPrimary -sys <Name of the host to install eSight>

You can query the name of the host by the # hostname command.

  3. Create a temporary directory, for example, /opt/install, on the eSight server to store installation files.

    • The eSight installation files must be stored on the local computer.
    • The installation file directory and absolute path can contain only letters, digits, hyphens (-), tildes (~), underscores (_), and periods (.). Otherwise, the installation will fail.

    # mkdir -p /opt/install

  4. Use FileZilla to upload the installation package to /opt/install on the eSight server and run the following commands to decompress the installation package:

    # cd /opt/install

    # unzip -d /opt/install/eSight indicates the eSight installation package.

  5. Run the following commands to start the eSight installation:

    # cd /opt/install/eSight

    # chmod u+x

    # ./

  6. Read the license agreement, select Read and Accept License Agreement, and click Install.

The system automatically checks whether the current environment meets requirements for installing eSight. If no, the associated message is displayed. Perform operations as prompted to ensure that all items meet the requirements and then install eSight again.

  7. On the Set Installation Parameters page, set installation parameters and click Next.

If the specified installation directory does not exist, the system displays a dialog box The directory xxx dose note exist. Do you want to create it?. In this dialog box, click Yes.
