Two-Node Cluster 2288H V5 Servers with Standard Configurations

Before installing the operating system, you need to configure the RAID of the server to improve the storage performance and data security of the hard disks. This section uses the server whose BOM number is 02312BSB as an example. The RAID configuration must be performed on both the active and standby eSight servers.

Prerequisites

You have planned the server RAID. For details, see Installation Plan.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the iBMC web management page.

    1. Open Internet Explorer, enter https://IP address of the iBMC management port in the address box, and press Enter. The default IP address of the iBMC management port is 192.168.2.100.
    2. (Optional) If the security alarm window is displayed, click Continue to this website.
    3. Enter the user name and password, and click Log In.

      The default user name is Administrator and the default password is Admin@9000.

  2. On the iBMC web management page, choose Information from the main menu.
  3. Power on the server.

    1. Choose Overview from the navigation pane on the left.
    2. If Power Status is displayed as , go to 4. Otherwise, go to 3.c.
    3. Click Power On.

      The system displays a message indicating that the operation is successful. The power status changes to .

  4. Choose System Info from the navigation pane on the left and choose Storage on the right of the page.
  5. Click the Configure tab and click next to Logical Drive to expand the options.

    Under Logical Drive, select Delete. If the logical disk configuration has been performed, select the Operation column of each row and click Save.

  6. Configure the first RAID 1 using Disk0 and Disk1.

    1. Under Logical Drive, select Create, set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU, set Init State to Quick Init, set Level to 1, and configure two physical disks. Click Save.

    2. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.

      If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.

  7. Configure another RAID 1 using Disk2 and Disk3 based on 6.

    During the configuration, select Disk2 and Disk3 as the physical disks.

  8. Use Disk4 to configure RAID 0.

    1. Under Logical Drive, select Create, set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU, set Init State to Quick Init, set Level to 0, and configure one physical disk.

      If Write Back with BBU does not exist, set Write Policy to Write Back.

    2. Click Save.
    3. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.

      If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.

  9. Configure a hot spare disk.

    1. Select Disk5 as the physical disk and set Hot Spare State to Global. Click Save.

    2. In the dialog box that is displayed, confirm the operation.

      If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.

  10. Click Views to check whether the RAID level, write policy, and capacity are the same as planned. If they are consistent, the configuration is correct.

  11. Repeat 1 to 10 on the other server to complete the RAID configuration.
