How Can I Solve the Problem that Error Code ORA-27090 Is Reported During Oracle Startup

Problem

The server is shut down abnormally. After the server is restarted, the Oracle database cannot be started. The trace logs contain the error code ORA-27090. The value of the system parameter fs.aio-max-nr is set to a small value and cannot meet the Oracle database startup requirements. As a result, the Oracle database cannot be started.

Solution

In the Veritas two-node cluster scenario, perform the following operations on both the active and standby servers.

  1. Log in to the operating system as the root user.
  2. Run the following command to check whether Maximum Asynchronous I/O is set to 1048576.

    # sysctl fs.aio-max-nr

If the following information is displayed, the current value 1048576 of Maximum Asynchronous I/O can meet the requirements and cannot be changed. Otherwise, perform 3 to modify Maximum Asynchronous I/O.
    fs.aio-max-nr = 1048576

  3. Perform the following operations to change the value of Maximum Asynchronous I/O to 1048576.

    1. Run the following command to modify the sysctl.conf file:

      # vi /etc/sysctl.conf

    2. Press i to enter the editing mode.
    3. Change the value of fs.aio-max-nr to 1048576.
      fs.aio-max-nr = 1048576
    4. Press Esc to exit the editing mode and run the :wq command to save and exit the file.

  4. Run the following command for the modification to take effect.

    # sysctl -p
