Installing the Veritas Software and Database

Installing the Veritas Software and Database

This section describes how to quickly install and configure the database, Veritas, and ICMR using an installation CD-ROM.

Prerequisites

Context

  • The operating system must be configured for the active and standby servers separately. You need to perform operations in this section on both the active and standby servers.
  • When performing operations in this section, do not adjust the size of the CLI to ensure that information can be normally displayed.
  • When iBMC or iMana is used to install the ICMR, you need to re-log in to iBMC or iMana if you have modified the server host name.
  • The available space of the /tmp directory on the server must be greater than 1 GB.

Operations in this section are as follows:

  • Install the ICMR.
  • Install the Veritas software and patch.
  • Automatically configure the disk image.
  • Set network parameters, including the host name, IP address, and bonding.
  • Install the Oracle database software and patch.

Procedure

  1. Remotely log in to the server using the management port as the root user.
  2. Preconfigure the operating system.

    1. Load the image, CD-ROM, or software package.
Table 6-9 Installation package loading mode

      Installation Mode

      Procedure

      Installation through the ISO file

      1. In Remote Virtual Console, load the ISO file eSight_V300R010C00SPC300_ICMR.iso.
      2. Right-click on the desktop and choose Open in Terminal from the shortcut menu.

      Installation through the CD-ROM

      1. Insert the installation CD-ROM of the two-node cluster software into the DVD-ROM of the server.
      2. Right-click on the desktop and choose Open in Terminal from the shortcut menu.

      Installation through the software package

      1. Create a temporary directory, for example, /opt/install, on the eSight server to store installation files.
        NOTE:

If /opt/install already exists on the server, skip this step.

        # mkdir /opt/install

      2. Upload the eSight_V300R010C00SPC300_ICMR.iso file to "/opt/install" on the server. For details, see How Do I Use FileZilla to Transfer Files.
      3. Run the following commands to go to the directory where install.sh is stored:

        # mkdir /opt/install/ICMR

        # mount -t iso9660 -o loop /opt/install/eSight_V300R010C00SPC300_ICMR.iso /opt/install/ICMR

        # cd /opt/install/ICMR

    2. Execute the install.sh script to start the system pre-configuration and set related parameters based on Collecting Information.

      # sh install.sh -b 192.168.100.10 -m 255.255.255.0 -f 10.137.62.110 -i 10.10.10.1 -l Primaster -n 255.255.255.0 -s eth2 -e eth1,eth3

      • -b: heartbeat IP address
      • -m: heartbeat subnet mask
      • -f: floating IP address
      • -i: system IP address
      • -l: host name. Set different host names for the active and standby servers.
      • -n: system subnet mask
      • -s: standby system network adapter
      • -e: heartbeat network adapter
      • -z: ICMR option on the distributed server (This parameter is required only when the NTC and are deployed in distributed mode.)
    3. If the command output contains failure information, save operation logs and contact Huawei technical support to locate the fault. The following information indicates that the installation is successful:
all operations defined in the task flow have been completed.
All operation logs are saved in: /var/ICMR/ICMR_20181109174100.log

  3. Check the Veritas version and patch information.

    1. Check the VxVM software version.

      # rpm -qa | grep VRTSvxvm

If the VxVM version is correct, the following information is displayed:

      VRTSvxvm-7.1.0.200-SLES12.x86_64

If the information next to VRTSvxvm is not 7.1.0.200-SLES12.x86_64, reinstall the Veritas software of version 7.1 or contact Huawei technical support.

    2. Check the VCS software version.

      # rpm -qa | grep VRTSvcs

If the VCS version is correct, the following information is displayed:

      VRTSvcsag-7.1.0.000-SLES12.x86_64
      VRTSvcs-7.1.0.000-SLES12.x86_64
      VRTSvcsea-7.1.0.000-SLES12.x86_64
      VRTSvcswiz-7.1.0.000-SLES12.x86_64

Pay attention to the information next to VRTSvcs. If the information next to VRTSvcs is not 7.1.0.000-SLES12.x86_64, reinstall the Veritas software of version 7.1 or contact Huawei technical support.

  4. To make the modified environment variable take effect, log the root user out of the system and log in to the system as the root user again.
