Configuring the Network

Configuring the Network

Before installing the ICMR, you need to configure the host name and IP address of the eSight server operating system as planned.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the server operating system through the management port as the root user. For details, see Logging in to the SUSE Linux Server.
  2. Upload eSight_V300R010C00SPC500_ICMR_Installation_Tool.zip to the server by mounting the directory through the management port. The procedure is as follows:

    1. On the toolbar of the Remote Virtual Console, click , select Directory, click Browse, and select the directory where eSight_V300R010C00SPC500_ICMR_Installation_Tool.zip is stored.
    2. Click Connect.
    3. After the connection succeeds, a CD/DVD icon is displayed on the desktop. Right-click the icon and choose Open in Terminal from the shortcut menu. In the CLI window, run the following commands:

      # mkdir -p /opt/install

      # cp eSight_V300R010C00SPC500_ICMR_Installation_Tool.zip /opt/install

  3. Decompress the ICMR installation tool package.

    # cd /opt/install/

    # unzip eSight_V300R010C00SPC500_ICMR_Installation_Tool.zip -d ICMR

  4. Run the following commands to reset the network adapter configuration:

    # cd /opt/install/ICMR

    # chmod 700 NICS_PORT.sh

    # sh NICS_PORT.sh >nic.log 2>&1

  5. After the restart, run the following command in the CLI. The YaST2 Control Center window is displayed.

    # yast2

If the tool window cannot be displayed in the Linux operating system, see What Can I Do If the Tool Window Is Not Displayed in the SUSE Linux Operating System.

  6. Choose System > Network Settings. The Network Settings window is displayed.

  7. On the Hostname/DNS tab page of the Network Settings window, change the host name and domain name.

  8. On the Overview tab page, select the eth0 network adapter and click Edit.

  9. On the Address tab page of the Network Card Setup window, select Statically Assigned IP Address, change the IP address, enter the host name, and click Next.

    • If the host name has been changed, the entered name must be the same as the new one.
    • Ensure that the network of the server where the software package is stored runs properly so that the software package can be uploaded. If the network is disconnected, change the IP address or use eSight-related network adapters. After the software package is uploaded, delete other network configurations except eth0 and restore the network configuration on eth0.

  10. Click the Routing tab and set the default gateway as planned.

  11. Click OK.
  12. Run the following commands to check whether the host name is configured correctly:

    # hostname
    eSightServer

    # hostname -i

    192.168.1.100

  13. Restart the operating system.

    # sync;sync;sync;sync

    # shutdown -r now

If the host name and IP address in the query result are inconsistent with the actual situation, contact Huawei engineers.
