Networking Structure

This chapter describes the networking structure of an HA system (SUSE Linux). Before installing an HA system (SUSE Linux), you must be familiar with its networking structure.

Networking Structure of a Local HA System (SUSE Linux)

Figure 2-1 shows the networking structure of a local HA system (SUSE Linux).

Figure 2-1 Networking structure of a local HA system (SUSE Linux) in a four-NIC solution
Figure 2-2 Networking structure of a local HA system (SUSE Linux) in a six-NIC solution (in the southbound and northbound isolation scenario)
  • A local HA system (SUSE Linux) consists of the active server and the standby server. Each server is composed of one workstation.
  • In a four-NIC solution, heartbeat lines are reused as replication lines and bond needs to be configured; system lines are reused as application lines and bond and floating IP addresses need to be configured.
  • The NMS client and the maintenance tool client communicate with the server through the DCN.
  • Devices and the upper-layer NMS (OSS) communicate with the server through the DCN.
