Verifying System Installation

Verifying System Installation

After the active and standby servers form an HA system, verify that the HA system (SUSE Linux) has been installed correctly to ensure that it functions properly.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the operating system of the active and standby servers as the root user.
  2. Check the installation path.

After the eSight server software is installed, the following directories will be generated automatically. Do not delete these directories at random. Otherwise, the eSight server software cannot be used properly.

    • /opt/OSSICMR
    • /opt/eSight
    • /opt/oracle
    • /etc/ICMR
    • /var/ICMR

  3. Run the following command to view the status of the disk group:

    # vxdg list

Information similar to the following is displayed:

    NAME STATE ID
    datadg enabled 1358418653.7.eSightServer
    • If STATE is enabled, the disk group is normal.
    • If STATE is not enabled, the disk group is faulty. In this case, contact Huawei technical support.

  4. Run the following command to view the disk status:

    # vxdisk list

Information similar to the following is displayed:

    DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
    sda auto:none - - online invalid
    sdb auto:sliced disk02 datadg online
    sdc auto:sliced disk03 datadg online

If STATUS of sda is online invalid, and STATUS of sdb and sdc is online, the disk status is normal. Otherwise, the disk is faulty. In this case, contact Huawei technical support.

  5. Run the following command to view the disk volume status:

    # vxprint -v

    Disk group: datadg

TY NAME ASSOC KSTATE LENGTH PLOFFS STATE TUTIL0 PUTIL0
    v lvdbdata datarvg ENABLED 524288000 - ACTIVE - -
    v lvfiledata datarvg ENABLED 4194304 - ACTIVE - -
    v srl datarvg ENABLED 20971520 SRL ACTIVE - -

In the command output, if KSTATE of all disk volumes is ENABLED, and STATE of all disk volumes is ACTIVE, the disk volumes are normal. If the disk volumes are abnormal, run the following command to record detailed information about all the disk volumes and contact Huawei Customer Service Center or the local Huawei rep office:

    # vxprint -l Disk volume name

  6. Run the following command on the active server to check whether the data replication status between the active and standby servers is normal:

    # vradmin -g datadg repstatus datarvg

Information similar to the following is displayed:

    Replicated Data Set: datarvg
    Primary:
      Host name: 192.168.10.8
      RVG name: datarvg
      DG name: datadg
      RVG state: enabled for I/O
      Data volumes: 1
      VSets: 0
      SRL name: srl
      SRL size: 10.00 G
      Total secondaries: 1

    Secondary:
      Host name: 192.168.10.7
      RVG name: datarvg
      DG name: datadg
      Data status: consistent, up-to-date
      Replication status: replicating (connected)
      Current mode: asynchronous
      Logging to: SRL
      Timestamp Information: behind by 0h 0m 0s
    • If Replication status is displayed as resync in progress (autosync), Data status is displayed as inconsistent, and the value next to DCM decreases, data is being synchronized between the active and standby servers.
    • If Replication status is displayed as replicating (connected) and Data status is displayed as consistent, up-to-date, data synchronization in the HA system is complete.
    • If Replication status is displayed as logging to DCM (needs dcm resynchronization), you must run the vradmin -g datadg resync datarvg command on the active server as the root user to perform manual synchronization.
    • The duration of data replication depends on the stability of the network bandwidth and the volume of the data to be replicated.

Follow-up Procedure

Delete the installation package and temporary files from the server after eSight is installed.

# rm -rf /opt/install

# rm -rf /opt/oracle_patch
