ALM-999999999 Communication Between NMS and NE Is Abnormal

Description

eSight queries device communication status every 2 minutes. When eSight detects a disconnected device, this alarm is generated. When eSight successfully reconnects the device, the alarm is automatically cleared. If the alarm is not automatically cleared and the device is still disconnected, the alarm is reported again immediately.

Possible Causes

The network fails or the device stops running.

Procedure

  1. View the location information about the alarm and confirm the location of the device that generates the alarm.

    1. In the alarm list on the Current Alarms page, click the alarm name. The alarm details dialog box is displayed.
    2. In Location Info of the Alarm Detail dialog box, view and record the values of Address, Protocol, Port, and Mediation Node ID.
    3. In the Alarm Detail dialog box, view and record the value of Alarm Source.

  2. Check whether the device network is normal.

    1. Choose Resource > Common from the main menu.
    2. Select a device type.
    3. In the device list, check whether the device is online.

  3. Contact the maintenance personnel to check whether the device is started.

    • If yes, go to Step 4.
    • If no, start the server and go to Step 4.

  4. Contact the maintenance personnel to check the hardware. For example, check whether the network cables are securely connected and whether the switch is working properly.

    • If the fault is rectified, go to Step 5.
    • If the fault cannot be rectified, go to Step 7.

  5. Refer to Step 2 to check whether the device network is normal again.

  6. Wait for five minutes and check whether the alarm is cleared in the current alarm list.

    • If yes, the alarm handling process is complete.
    • If no, go to Step 7.

  7. Collect the information about alarm handling, and contact the technical support personnel.

Clearing

When the fault is eliminated, the system will automatically clear the alarm. Manual clearing is not required.
