Causes of the HA System Switchover

Causes of the HA System Switchover

In the HA system, if a fault occurs on the active server, services will automatically switch to the standby server, which will then monitor and manage the network. This section describes the common switchover causes.

The following describes two switchover causes in the HA system.

Cause 1: Resource faults can trigger the HA system switchover.

Resource Name

Used to monitor keyword processes of eSight. A fault in a key process can trigger the switchover in the HA system.

Used to monitor the database process. A fault in the database process can trigger the switchover in the HA system.

Used by eSight to offer the listening service. A fault in floating IP addresses can trigger the switchover in the HA system.

Cause 2: The switchover will be triggered due to unexpected power-off of the active server, hardware breakdown (for example, faulty hardware due to disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods), or system breakdown (for example, system startup failure due to OS faults). After the switchover is complete, the HA system enters the protection failure status.
