eSight Fails to Be Started

This topic provides the method to use for emergency plan when the eSight fails to be started.

Support for Automatic Check by the eSight



The current user is not in the Administrators group.


  • During startup, the eSight checks whether the current server environment meets the startup requirements. If not, follow the suggestions.
  • You need to manually rectify the fault that the eSight cannot automatically detect.


User account control (UAC) is enabled.



The eSight service path is different from the eSight installation path.



  1. Run the environmental health check tool. For details, see Running the Environmental Health Check Tool.


    If the items Important File, Detection System Tools, Database Connection fail the check, rectify the faults according to Backing Up the Entire eSight System (Windows).

  2. Check whether the current user that has logged in to the operating system is in the Administrators group.

    • Automatic check:

      If not, the system prompts you to log in as an administrator when you start eSight Console.

    • Manual check:
      • Windows Server 2012 R2 standard edition
    1. On the desktop, choose Server Manage to access the server management page.
    2. Choose Tools > Computer Management and Local Users and Groups > Groups and right-click the Administrators user group.


    Log in to the operating system as a user in the Administrators group.

  3. Check whether UAC is disabled.

    Check method: During startup, the eSight automatically checks whether UAC is disabled.

    1. Choose Start > Run, and enter msconfig.exe.

    2. In the dialog box that is displayed, click the Tools tab. Click Change UAC Setting and click Launch.

    3. In the dialog box that is displayed, change UAC settings.

    Solution: Disable UAC.

  4. Check whether the eSight service exists and whether the eSight service path is the same as the eSight installation path.

    Check method:

    1. Choose Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. In the window that is displayed, find the eSightService service.

    2. Check properties of the eSightService service, and compare the eSight service process path and the eSight installation path.


    During eSight installation, the eSight service process path is eSight installation directory\eSight\mttools\lbin\eSightService.exe.

    Solution: Reinstall the eSight.
