Overview of the HA System Status

Overview of the HA System Status

The following table describes the status of the HA eSight system based on the status of the active and standby servers.

Table 3-9 Overview of the HA system status

System Status

Status of the Active and Standby Servers

Remarks

Normal status

The active server is normal.

The standby server is normal.

In this case, the network management application (NMSService) is running on the active server. The heartbeat connection is normal. Data is replicated from the active server to the standby server. The standby server provides protection for the system.

Switchover status

The active server is faulty.

The standby server is normal.

This is an intermediate status when resources of the active server are faulty, operating system (OS) breaks down, or hardware of the active server is faulty. The status will automatically switch to the protection failure or system failure status based on the standby server switchover status.

  • If the switchover is successful, the system switches to the protection failure status.
  • If the switchover fails, the system switches to the system failure status.

Disconnection status

The active server is normal.

The standby server is normal.

The network management application is running on the active server. The active and standby servers cannot communicate with each other through the heartbeat IP address or obtain the status of the peer server.

Protection failure status

The active server is normal.

The standby server is faulty.

In this case, the network management application is running on the active server, and the standby server cannot protect the system. The status is divided into two cases:

  • Resources of the standby server are faulty (displayed as Abnormal and then changed to Exception), or a resource group on the active server is frozen (forbiden_switch). In this case, the heartbeat connection is normal, and data is replicated from the active server to the standby server.
  • If the OS or hardware of the standby server is faulty, the heartbeat connection and data replication will be interrupted.

System failure status

The active server is faulty.

The standby server is faulty.

The eSight system is unavailable.

Dual-active status

The active server is running properly.

The standby server is running properly.

The web access may be abnormal.

The eSight is running on both the active and standby servers. The active and standby servers cannot communicate with each other through the heartbeat IP address or obtain the status of the peer server. In addition, the standby server cannot detect the floating IP address occupation.
