Checking the Server Running Status

Checking the Server Running Status

This section describes how to check the server running status to detect and rectify faults in a timely manner, ensuring efficient operation of the eSight server.

Reference Standard

  • Server components are normal and no alarm is generated.
  • The CPU usage and hard disk usage of the server are normal.

Procedure

  1. Check the server health status.

    • 2288H V5 server:
      • Log in to the iBMC web page of the target server.
      • Choose Information > Information Summary.
      • On the Information Summary page, check whether alarms are generated for the server.
    • RH5885H V3 server
      • Log in to the iMana web page of the target server.
      • Choose Overview from the navigation tree. The Overview page is displayed.
      • In the System Status and Active Alarm areas, check whether alarms are generated for the server.
    NOTE:

If no alarm is generated, the page displays no alarm information.

  2. Check the CPU usage, memory usage, and hard disk usage of the server in the maintenance tool.

    • Log in to the maintenance tool.
    • Choose System > System Monitoring from the main menu.
    • On the Basic Information tab page in the System Monitoring window, check the CPU usage, memory usage, and hard disk usage of the server.

In normal cases, the CPU usage does not exceed 90% and the disk usage does not exceed 80%.

Troubleshooting

  • If a server component is abnormal, contact the server provider for troubleshooting.
  • If the CPU usage and hard disk usage of the server are too high, an alarm is generated. Rectify the fault based on the alarm handling suggestions.
NOTE:

If the hard disk usage of the server is too high, you can follow instructions in Clearing eSight Server Disk Space to delete unnecessary files from the hard disk.
