Configuring SFTP+KEY Remote Backup

Configuring SFTP+KEY Remote Backup

This section uses the SFTP service provided by the Linux operating system as an example to describe how to configure the SFTP+KEY trust relationship.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the eSight server as the ossuser user and switch to the /ossuser/ path.

    cd /ossuser

  2. Check whether the .ssh directory exists in the path.

    1. If the directory exists and contains the id_rsa and id_rsa.pub files, go to step 3.
    2. If the directory does not exist or the id_rsa and id_rsa.pub files do not exist in the directory, run the following commands to create the files:

      ssh-keygen -t rsa

When the system prompts you to enter the path of the trust file, press Enter and use the default file /ossuser/.ssh/id_rsa.

When the system prompts you to enter the password, press Enter twice.

  3. Run the following command to copy the id_rsa file:

    cp id_rsa id_ftp_rsa

  4. Use a tool to download the id_rsa.pub file from the /ossuser/.ssh/ directory on the eSight server to the local computer and rename the file id_rsa_esight.pub.
  5. Ensure that the SFTP server meets the following requirements:

    • The server name is sftpuser.
    • The home directory of the sftpuser user is /home/sftpuser.
    • The SSH key path of the sftpuser user is /home/sftpuser/.ssh.
    Then,
    1. Upload the local id_rsa_esight.pub file to the home directory /home/sftpuser of the sftpuser user on the SFTP server as the sftpuser user.
    2. Log in to the SFTP server as the sftpuser user and check whether the /home/sftpuser/.ssh directory exists. If the directory does not exist, run the mkdir /home/sftpuser/.ssh command to create it.
    3. Log in to the SFTP server as the sftpuser user and run the cat /home/sftpuser/id_rsa_esight.pub >> /home/sftpuser/.ssh/authorized_keys command.

  6. In an HA system, perform steps 1 to 5 on the active server and:

    • Perform step 3 on the standby server for the OMMHA HA system.
    • Perform steps 2 to 5 on the standby server for the Veritas HA system.
