Starting and Stopping the eSight Server (EulerOS or Distributed System)

This section describes how to start and stop the single-node eSight server or distributed system on Linux. The startup operations include secure power-on, database startup, and eSight service startup. The stop operations include eSight service stopping, database stopping, and secure power-off.

Starting eSight

This section describes how to start eSight.

Context

By default, the eSight service starts with the operating system.

NOTE:

The methods for setting the eSight startup mode on the Euler operating system are as follows:

  • Run the chkconfig eSightService off 2>/dev/null command as the root user to disable eSight automatic startup.
  • Run the chkconfig eSightService on 2>/dev/null command as the root user to enable eSight automatic startup.
Procedure
  1. Start the eSight service.

    1. Log in to the eSight server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following commands to start the eSight service:

      > cd eSight installation directory/bin

      > ./startup.sh

      When the status of every process is RUNNING and "starting eSight system succeeded" is displayed, the eSight service has been started.

Stopping the eSight Service

This topic describes how to stop the eSight service.

Procedure
  1. Stop the eSight service.

    1. Log in to the eSight server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following commands to stop the eSight service.

      > cd eSight installation directory/bin

      > ./shutdown.sh

      Are you sure you want to stop the system? (Please enter y or n):     
    3. Enter Y and press Enter.

      When the status of every process is STOPPED and stopping eSight system succeeded. is displayed, the eSight service has been stopped.

  2. Optional: If the NTC is installed on a different host, manually stop the NTC service.

    1. Log in to the NTC server as the ossuser user.
    2. Run the following commands to stop the NTC service.

      > cd eSight installation directory/bin

      > ./shutdown.sh

      When the status of every process is STOPPED and stopping eSight system succeeded. is displayed, the NTC service has been stopped.
