Starting and Stopping the eSight Server (Veritas HA System)

Powering On the Server Safely

Power on the Huawei 2288H V5 or RH5885H V3 on condition that the power supply is normal.

Prerequisites
  • Ensure that the power cables and ground cables are securely connected with correct polarity and good contact.
  • The cabinet where the server resides has been powered on.
Procedure
  1. Power on the 2288H V5 or RH5885H V3 server.
  2. Press the power buttons on the peripherals and monitor connected to a server.
  3. Wait 2 to 3 minutes. When the green indicator on the front panel of the server blinks every 1s, press the power button on the shelf of the server.

    NOTE:

    If the power button is steady on, the server has been successfully powered on. For details about Huawei server indicators, see the manual for Huawei servers or log in to the official Huawei website.

Starting the eSight Service

This topic describes how to start the eSight service in a high-availability system.

Procedure
Starting the eSight service via command.
  1. Log in to the primary server as the root user.
  2. Run the following command to start eSight.

    # hagrp -online AppService -sys $(hostname)

    Check the status of the AppService resource group:

    # hagrp -state AppService -sys $(hostname)

Stopping the eSight Service

This topic describes how to stop the eSight service in a high-availability system.

Procedure
Stopping the eSight service via command.
  1. Log in to the primary server as the root user.
  2. Run the following command to stop the eSight service:

    # hagrp -offline AppService -sys $(hostname)

    Check the status of the AppService resource group:

    # hagrp -state AppService -sys $(hostname)

Powering Off the Server Safely

Before shutting down the eSight server, stop the eSight service and the database.

Prerequisites
  • The eSight service must have been stopped.
  • The database must have been shut down.
Procedure
  1. Log in to the primary and secondary server as the root user.
  2. Run the following commands to shut down the operating system.

    # sync;sync;sync;sync

    # shutdown -h now

  3. Power off external devices and displays.
