Firmware upgrade

  • Upgrading the firmware RAID, CNA, NIC, HBA, IB, SSD, HDD, and NVDIMM, and driver RAID, CNA, HBA, NIC, and IB will exert the following impacts:
    • The operating system will be restarted during the upgrade of certain firmware, causing service interruption. The service interruption duration depends on the firmware type and quantity.
    • If flash memory refreshing fails after upgrades of certain PCIe cards, the PCIe cards need to be returned for repair.
  • When the firmware is upgraded for the server BIOS and CPLD, the operating system will be automatically or manually restarted, which may cause service interruption.
  • KunLun servers must be manually powered off before any firmware upgrade. Otherwise, the eSight will be powered off forcibly due to non-fully power-off.
  • When the CPLD of a switch module is upgraded, the Base, Fabric, and FC planes of the switch module will be restarted, which may cause service interruption.
  • When the driver is upgraded, the operating system will be automatically restarted, causing service interruption.
  • If the iBMA upgrade in the VMware operating system involves the iBMA driver upgrade, the operating system will be automatically restarted, causing service interruption.

Stateless computing

  • After a server is powered on, information in its profile will be automatically reconfigured, and the configuration takes about 20 minutes.
  • Deleting a server associated with a profile, deleting a server domain associated with a profile, and splitting a profile will cause server power-off.
