Principle of HA System Status Conversion

The HA system status changes along with fault occurrence and rectification. This topic describes the principle of common HA system status conversion.

NOTE:

Read HA System Status Overview before this topic.

If the HA system is in Normal state, the primary server acts as the active server, the secondary server acts as the standby server, and the eSight runs on the primary server. Figure 1 shows the conversion relationship between HA system status.

Table 1 shows the conversion relationship between and trigger factors for HA system status.
NOTE:
  • ←→ indicates that two status can be converted to each other.
  • indicates that only unidirectional conversion is available for two status.

Normal state←→Fault switching state

The resource on the primary server is faulty.

(2)

Normal state→Fault switching state

The primary server is powered off abnormally, has a hardware fault, or is broken down.

(3)

Fault switching state→Recovery state

After the primary server fault is rectified, the HA system enters the Recovery state.

(4)

Normal state→Primary-primary state

The communication between the primary and secondary server has stopped for more than about 600 seconds.

(5)

Primary-primary state→Recovery state

After the DCN fault between the primary and secondary server is rectified, the HA system enters the Recovery state.

(6)

Recovery state→Normal state

The Force primary operation is performed manually.

NOTE:

Data on the secondary server may be damaged. Do not forcibly switch to the secondary server to prevent data loss.

Normal state←→Protection failure state

  • The resource on the secondary server is faulty.
  • The secondary server fails.
  • The resource groups on the primary and secondary servers are frozen.
  • The SRL data exceeds the threshold.

Protection failure state→System failure state

  • The resource on the primary server is faulty.
  • The primary server fails.

Fault switching state→System failure state

  • The resource on the secondary server is faulty.
  • The secondary server fails.
