PON Resource Management

Device Management

This section describes how to synchronize OLT data and view OLT information.

Prerequisites

  • eSight is running properly.
  • An OLT has been added to eSight.

Procedure

  • Synchronizing OLT data

    Synchronize the frame, board, subcard, and port information of an OLT and the ONUs connected to the OLT to eSight.

    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > Device from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. Select one or more OLT records and click Synchronize.

  • Viewing OLT information
    • In the OLT list, you can view Status, Name, IP Address, Type, GroupName, Total ONUs, Online ONUs, and Manufacturer of an OLT.
    • In the OLT list, click Name of a record to enter the OLT NE Explorer. Choose View > Overview from the navigation tree on the left and view details about the OLT, including health, basic information, CPU usage, memory usage, response duration, daily ping failures, Ethernet port usage, GPON UNI port usage, GPON ONU state statistics, Ethernet port, neighborhood, GPON UNI port, and ONU.
NOTE:

If the number of ONUs connected to the OLT exceeds 10, click More next to the ONU list to view information of all ONUs connected to this OLT on the new tab page. You can set Name, Alias or State and click Search to search for the desired ONU. Click to export information of all ONUs connected to this OLT.

  • In the OLT list, click the Online ONUs or Total Number of ONUs of a record to view information about ONUs connected to the OLT.
  • In the OLT list, click of a record and view the topology information on the Topology Management tab page that is displayed.
  • In the NE Explorer, choose View > Device Panel from the navigation tree to view the slot, board, and port of the OLT.

To restore management of selected devices.

NOTE:

After a device is unmanaged, the device does not report alarms and performance data to eSight.

To synchronize the frame, board, subcard, and port information of an OLT and the ONUs connected to the OLT to eSight.

To set a fixed time to automatically synchronize device data to eSight every day.

NOTE:

Synchronization consumes a large number of resources. You are advised to perform automatic synchronization when services are not busy.

To move a device to the selected subnet.

To modify Maintained by, Used on, Expiration Date, Asset manager, Purchased on and Remarks of selected devices in batches.

If you delete the selected devices, all related data (including data of ONUs connected to the devices) about the devices will be deleted.

To view the OLT topology on the Topology Management tab page.

To modify Maintained by, Used on, Expiration Date, Asset manager, Asset No, Purchased on and Remarks of an OLT.

To view resource detail about the frame, board, subcard, and port of an OLT.

To delete selected devices on eSight.

NOTE:

If you delete the selected devices, all related data (including data of ONUs connected to the devices) about the devices will be deleted.

This topic describes how to view and manage equipment frame information.

Prerequisites

An OLT has been added to eSight.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. Choose PON Resource > Frame from the navigation tree on the left.
  3. (Optional) Click on the right side and set Name, NE, Software Version and Comments to find the desire frame.
  4. View Name, NE, Frame No, Admin Status, Oper Status, Software Version, and Comments in the list.

Managing ONUs

This section describes how to view information about ONUs.

Prerequisites

  • eSight is running properly.
  • An ONU has been added to eSight.

Procedure

  • Querying information about all ONUs
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. (Optional) Set SN, OLT Name, OLT IP Address, PON Port, ONU Name, ONU IP Address, ONU Alias, Run Status, Operate Status, Config Status, and Software Version and click Search to search for desired ONUs.
    4. View the ONU operating status, operating status, configuration status, serial number, ONU name, terminal type, software version, ONU alias, ONU IP address, OLT IP address, ONU ID, PON port, and vendor ID in the list.

    5. Click the ONU Name of a record. In the overview tab page of the NE Explorer, view details about the ONU, including the basic information, optical module temperature, optical module bias current, power supply voltage of the optical module, optical transmission power of the optical module, uplink FEC decoding uncorrected blocks, DOWI alarms, LOFI alarms, uplink FEC decoding corrected blocks, BIP error frames, rate, and UNI port.

  • Querying and configuring POE parameters of Ethernet ports of an ONU
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. In the ONU list, click a record in ONU Name to enter the ONU NE Explorer.
    4. Choose ONU Management >Ethernet Port Management from the navigation tree on the left.
    5. View details about the Ethernet port list, including Port ID, Name, and Type.
    6. Click next to a port record to set parameters such as Switch, Mode, priority, and Max Power Class.
    7. (Optional) Click next to a port record to view extended information about the port.
    8. Click Confirm to deliver parameter settings to the device.

      NOTE:

      If the Ethernet port does not support PoE, Ethernet Port Configuration and Extended Information are not supported.

  • Viewing and configuring the ONU under the specified OLT
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. (Optional) Set OLT Name, OLT IP, Device Type, or Device Status and click Search to search for the desired OLT.
    4. In the OLT list, click Name of a record. In the OLT NE Explorer, choose Device Config > ONU Manager from the navigation tree on the left.

    5. (Optional) Set Name, Alias, Run Status, and Operation Status and click Search to search for desired ONUs.
    6. View the ONU running status, operating status, configuration status, PON port, ONU ID, ONU name, ONU alias, terminal type, and SN in the list.

  • Querying basic information about a specified ONU energy base unit
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. In the ONU list, click a record in ONU Name to enter the ONU NE Explorer.
    4. Choose ONU Management > Energy Base Unit Information from the navigation tree on the left and view basic information, integrated power supply system, battery group, and Lithium battery measurement items of the ONU.

    NOTE:

    Currently, the following types of devices support the query of the energy base unit information: EG8084P-Inside and EG8084P-Inside-v2.

  • Querying alarm information about a specified ONU energy base unit
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. In the ONU list, click a record in ONU Name to enter the ONU NE Explorer.
    4. Choose ONU Management > Energy Base Alarm Information from the navigation tree on the left and view alarms of the Integrated power supply, Lithium battery group, and Lithium battery of the ONU.

    NOTE:

    Currently, the following types of devices support the query of energy base unit alarms: EG8084P-Inside and EG8084P-Inside-v2.

  • Query the Wi-Fi configuration information of the ONU.
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. In the ONU list, click a record in ONU Name to enter the ONU NE Explorer.
    4. Choose ONU Management > Wi-Fi Information Query from the navigation tree on the left..
    5. On the Wi-Fi Information Query page, you can view the WLAN switch status and Wi-Fi settings.
      1. When the WLAN switch is turned on, you can view the SSID name, status, frequency band, current channel, authentication mode, number of online users, transmit power percentage, whether to broadcast the SSID, multimedia switch, web visibility, total number of received bytes, and total number of sent bytes.

      2. If the WLAN switch is turned off, the list is empty.

      3. If the WLAN switch status is --, the device is offline or abnormal.

        NOTE:

        If the device does not support Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi configuration information cannot be queried.

  • Query the status of the DI/DO port on a specified ONU.
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > ONU from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. In the ONU list, click a record in ONU Name to enter the ONU NE Explorer.
    4. In the navigation tree on the left, choose ONU Management > DIDO Port Management to view the DI/DO port status of the ONU.
    5. Optional: If the DI/DO port status change reporting switch needs to be turned on or off, select the status in the drop-down list box and click to deliver the configurations. If the switch is turned on, the system automatically sends an alarm if the status of the DI/DO port changes.

    NOTE:

    Currently, only EG8084P-Inside-v2 supports the query of the DI/DO port status.

To set the polling interval of ONU status and ONU UNI port status.

To modify the ONU alias or multiservice profiles.

NOTE:

Replacing multiservice profile of ONU will interrupt services.

To move the ONU to the next optical splitter.

To replace the faulty ONU.

To select the ONU information column to be displayed or hidden.

Click OLT Name.

To view details about the OLT to which the ONU is connected.

Click Port ID.

To view information about the PON port on which the ONU resides.

To delete the ONU.

NOTE:

Deleting ONU would fail if OLT is offline or faulty.

Export Selected

To export details of the selected ONUs to an .xls file.

Export All

To export details of all ONUs to an .xls file.

To import device information to add an ONU on eSight manually.

Configure WLAN switch statuses and related parameters in batches.

NOTE:
  • Select one or more ONU records and click WLAN Configuration.
  • When the WLAN switch is enabled, the SSID is mandatory. If the authentication mode is PSK authentication, the password is mandatory. The default authentication mode is WPA/WPA2. The encryption mode is fixed to TKIP&AES.
  • After WLAN configurations are applied successfully, the system automatically creates a configuration task to deliver parameters to devices.

To import ONU aliases in batches.

NOTE:
  • This function is available only for eSight users with the administrator rights.
  • The valid duration refers to the validity period of the ONT remote login user name and password. If the validity period expires, the user name and password become invalid.

Managing Optical Splitters

This topic describes how to view information about optical splitters.

Prerequisites

  • eSight is running properly.
  • OLTs, ONUs, and optical splitters exist in the system.

Context

Optical splitter is a component of the PON network. It is a passive device connected to the OLT and ONU. After an OLT is added to eSight, eSight will allocate an optical splitter named Splitter(L1) to the PON interface of the OLT by default.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. Choose PON Resource > Splitter from the navigation tree on the left.
  3. Set OLT Name, OLT IP, Splitter Name, Splitter Alias, and click Search to search for desired optical splitters.
  4. In the list, view the name, IP address, subrack ID, slot ID, and port ID of the OLT to which the optical splitter is connected, and the optical splitter name, alias, split ratio, and remarks.

Managing PON Ports

This topic describes how to query information about OLT PON ports and operations related to PON ports.

Prerequisites

An OLT has been added to eSight.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. Choose PON Resource > Device from the navigation tree on the left.

  3. Choose an OLT device and click the Name of a record.

  4. Choose Device Config > PON Port Manager from the navigation tree.
  5. In the list, you can view the following information about the PON port: operation status, runtime status, name, alias, minimum distance, maximum distance, downstream FEC, and ONU auto discovery.

Enable GPON UNI Port

To open the laser of a GPON UNI port.

Disable GPON UNI Port

To close the laser of a GPON UNI port. If you do not want the ONUs connected to a GPON UNI to go online, close the laser of the GPON UNI port.

Enable ONU Auto Discovery

To enable ONU auto-discovery for a GPON UNI port. After this function is enabled, the OLT regularly checks whether new ONUs connected to the GPON UNI port go online.

Disable ONU Auto Discovery

To disable ONU auto-discovery for a GPON UNI port. After this function is disabled, the OLT does not check whether new ONUs connected to the GPON UNI port go online.

Managing Ethernet Ports

This topic describes how to query information about OLT Ethernet ports and operations related to Ethernet ports.

Prerequisites

An OLT has been added to eSight.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. Choose PON Resource > Device from the navigation tree on the left.

  3. Choose an OLT device and click the Name of a record.

  4. choose Device Config > Ethernet Port Manager from the navigation tree.
  5. In the list, you can view the Name, Alias, Operation Status, Management Status, Rate, and Work Mode of the Ethernet port.

Managing PON Electronic Labels

This topic describes how to check PON electronic labels.

Prerequisites

  • eSight is running properly.
  • A PON device has been added to eSight.

Context

eSight allows you to obtain the electronic labels of OLTs and ONUs. You can select desired devices to obtain their electronic labels, synchronize the electronic labels to eSight, and check them on eSight. Electronic labels contain location information and related data.

Procedure

  • Querying electronic labels
    1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
    2. Choose PON Resource > PON Electronic Labels from the navigation tree on the left.
    3. (Optional) Click on the right, set NE Name, IP Address, Resource Name, Locating Information, Bar code, Board Type, Description, Supplier, and Production Date, and press Enter to search for electronic labels.
    4. In the displayed list, you can check NE Name, IP Address, Resource Name, Locating Information, Bar code, Board Type, Description, Supplier and Production Date.
NOTE:
  • Locating Information of OLT contains frame ID and slot ID. Locating Information of ONU contains frame ID, slot ID, port ID and ONU ID.
  • Electronic label of an ONT only contains Bar code, Locating Information and Description, Resource Name, Board Type and Supplier. Bar code of offline devices will not be displayed.

  • Obtaining electronic labels
    1. Click Obtain Electronic Label.
    2. In the Available NEs dialog box, select one or multiple devices whose electronic labels need to be obtained and click OK.

      NOTE:

      When selecting devices, you can set name, IP or Device Model in the text box to filter devices.

    3. In the Obtain Electronic Label dialog box, verify that the electronic label is obtained.

NOTE:

When electronic label of an OLT is obtained, electronic labels of connected ONU will be obtained as well.
