Adding Unified Communications Devices in Batches

Adding Unified Communications Devices in Batches

To add a batch of such devices to the eSight, you can enter the device information in an Excel template and import the template to eSight. Then, the eSight adds the devices to the matching subnets automatically.

Protocol parameters have been set on unified communications devices. For details, see Setting Protocol Parameters for Unified Communications Devices.

If the device is in offline state after being connected to the eSight, check whether the connection parameters are set correctly. If the connection parameters are correct, delete the offline device and connect the device to the eSight again. Then check whether the device is online. If the device is still offline, contact the service provider.

This topic assumes that a batch of IP PBXs need to be added to different subnets.

  1. Choose Resource > Common from the main menu. In the navigation tree on the left, select Add Resource > Import Resource.

  2. Choose Unified Communications > IP PBX.
  3. Click to download the template to your local computer.
  4. Enter the device information in the template, and save the template. For details on device settings, see the related topic in Setting Protocol Parameters for Unified Communications Devices.

If you enable NAT traversal for IAD or IP PBX, you should take the translated IP address as the IP address of devices.

  5. Click next to Resource file to import and select the Excel template.
  6. Click to upload the template.

The system starts to verify the settings in the template. The device information in the template and the verification result are displayed in the resource table.

    • If the Result column is left blank, the settings are verified successfully.
    • If the error cause is displayed in the Result column, modify the Excel file and upload the file again.

  7. Select the devices to be imported and click Create. The system starts to import the devices.

If subnets in the template exist in the system, the system adds devices to the matching subnets directly. If a subnet in the template does not exist in the system, the system creates the subnet and then adds relevant devices to the subnet.

    • If the devices are created successfully, Add success is displayed in the Result column.
    • If the devices fail to be created, the failure cause is displayed in the Result column.

  1. Choose Resource > Collaboration Resource from the main menu.
  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Network Element Device Management > Unified Communications > Resource Management > Unified Communications Device. You can find that the IP PBXs specified in the Excel template are displayed in the management object list.
