Creating Virtual NEs and Virtual Links

For objects that cannot be connected to eSight, you can create virtual NEs and virtual links to display the whole network.

Prerequisites

  • Resources have been connected to eSight.
  • You have the operation rights for topology modification.
  • The network topology has been planned.

Context

The eSight does not provide any messages using the topology background. Do not believe any operation instructions in the topology background if any to ensure system security.

Procedure

  1. Choose Topology > Topology Management from the main menu.
  2. Create a virtual NE and virtual link.

    For objects that cannot be connected to eSight, you can create virtual NEs and virtual links to display the whole network.

    Virtual NEs and virtual links are only identifiers, and their status cannot be displayed.

    1. Click on the toolbar and choose .
    2. Select NEs and subnets for which you want to set up links.

    Creating virtual links between NEs and topology objects in a subnet

    1. Click in the upper right corner of the subnet to expand the subnet.
    2. Click on the toolbar and choose .
    3. Select NEs and topology objects in the subnet for which you want to set up links.
    NOTE:

    To cancel the creation, click on the toolbar and choose the required operation.
