Device Software Management

The device software management function provided by eSight allows you to upgrade software versions and upload software patches in batches, improving work efficiency.

Configuring Remote OLT Upgrade

eSight provides a wizard-based device software upgrade function. You can follow the wizard to upgrade OLT versions or install patches in batches.

Prerequisites

  • The OLTs have been added to eSight.
  • The OLTs are online.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. (Optional) Upload a version file.

    1. Choose Device Software Management > File from the navigation tree on the left. Click .
    2. On the File page, set the version information and upload the version or patch file.

    3. Click Confirm.

  3. Choose Device Software Management > Upgrade Task from the navigation tree on the left and click .
  4. On the Create Task tab, set related parameters and set Category to OLT.

    NOTE:

    SFTP is recommended because its security level is higher than that of FTP.

  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Choose Device tab page, click to select required devices.

  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Target Version/File tab, select or upload the version or patch file.

  9. Click Create.
  10. On the Result Confirmation tab, check the creation result of the upgrade task.

  11. In the Check Result column of the Device List area, check whether an upgrade task is created. If an upgrade task is created successfully, click Finished.

    NOTE:

    If you want to create other upgrade tasks, click Continue Create.

    • You can view the upgrade status of each device in the Upgrade Status column. If the upgrade fails, view the failure causes in the Failure Reason column.
    • If you want to re-deliver an upgrade task to a device that fails to be upgraded, select the device and click . You can also click in the Operation column of the device that fails to be upgraded.
  • If the total version file size managed in device software upgrade exceeds the upper limit of the capacity, delete unnecessary version files in File or expand the upper limit of the capacity in Storage Settings.

Context

About 300 ONTs can be remotely upgraded per hour. Therefore, the number of ONTs to be upgraded should be planned based on this speed when you plan an upgrade task.

Procedure

  1. Choose Resource > PON from the main menu.
  2. (Optional) Upload a version file.

    1. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Device Software Management > File. Click .
    2. On the File Management page, set the version information and upload the version file.

    3. Click Confirm.

  3. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Device Software Management > Upgrade Task. Click .
  4. On the Create Task tab, set related parameters and set Category to ONT.

    NOTE:

    SFTP is recommended because its security level is higher than that of FTP.

  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Choose Device tab page, click and select the required device. Select OLT from the navigation tree on the left. The list of ONTs connected to the OLT is displayed on the right. Select one or more ONTs to be upgraded and click OK.

  8. On the Target Version/File tab, select or upload the version file.

  9. Click Create.
  10. On the Result Confirmation tab, check the creation result of the upgrade task.

  11. In the Check Result column of the Device List area, check whether an upgrade task is created. If an upgrade task is created successfully, click Finished.
