Enabling Log Forwarding

Enabling Log Forwarding

Log forwarding can be enabled or disabled on the eSight server. Log forwarding is disabled by default. That is, logs are not forwarded to the Syslog server. Before you use the log forwarding service, enable log forwarding first.

Procedure

  • Windows
    1. Log in to the server as the Administrator user.
      NOTE:

If security hardening has been performed for the Windows operating system, log in as the SWMaster user.

    2. Open the eSight installation directory/AppBase/etc/oms.sm/sm.xml configuration file.
    3. Modify the following configuration items to enable the function of forwarding logs to the Syslog server.
      Table 23-2 Configuration description

      Parameter

      1: Enable the function.

      NOTE:

The value 0 indicates disabling log forwarding, and 1 indicates enabling log forwarding. The default value is 0.

    4. Restart eSight. For details, see "Common Operations and Configuration > Common eSight Operations > Starting and Stopping the eSight Server (Windows Single-Node or Distributed System)" in the Maintenance Guide.
