Alarm management supports alarm rule management, alarm monitoring, handling, and notification.

Custom Alarm Management

Through custom alarm management, alarms and events that are not preconfigured on eSight can be analyzed and displayed after being configured and reported.

  • eSight can receive SNMP Trap packets that are not analyzed as alarms and allows users to configure the packet receiving time.
  • eSight allows users to create alarms and events not preconfigured through Trap packets.
  • eSight allows users to manually create alarms and events not preconfigured.

Rule Management

Alarm rules include alarm masking, alarm redefinition, and automatic acknowledgement. O&M personnel of ICT systems can flexibly configure alarm monitoring rules based on service requirements, for example:

  • Configure masking rules to mask unimportant alarms or events to be generated.
  • Configure alarm sounds by severity.
  • Redefine alarm severities and rename alarms.
  • Configure alarm acknowledgment rules by severity to automatically move cleared current alarms to the historical alarm list.
  • Configure alarm synchronization to synchronize alarm data that failed to be reported to eSight due to a disconnection between ICT resources and eSight when the connection is restored.

Alarm Monitoring

eSight provides various alarm monitoring methods and multidimensional alarm data statistics, for example:
  • Monitor alarms in the current alarm list.
    Figure 5-1 Current alarms
  • Monitor alarms on the alarm panel.
    Figure 5-2 Alarm panel
  • Monitor alarms on a topology.
    Figure 5-3 Topology
  • Support life cycle management: eSight stores and manages current alarms, historical alarms, and events throughout the device life cycle.

Alarm Handling

  • View alarm details, including alarm name, handling suggestions, and locating information, to help network O&M personnel troubleshoot faults.
  • Manually acknowledge an alarm to prevent others from processing the alarm at the same time.
  • Manually clear alarms after related faults have been rectified.
  • Record alarm handling experience for future reference.
  • Record in remarks fault information that is not included in alarm details.
  • Allow users to export alarm information for easy query.

The exported file must be saved in .csv format. If the exported data contains the Excel formula-like data, the risk that the local commands are invoked automatically may occur.

Alarm Notification

  • Alarms can be sent to maintenance personnel of ICT systems using email, SMS, or WeChat.
  • Notification rules can be set based on alarm severity and alarm name.
  • Alarm sources can be specified in a notification rule based on device or interface group.
  • The unified user group management portal can be used to configure recipients of remote notifications. The user group information can be shared by multiple system modules.
  • The title and content of notification emails and SMS messages can be configured.
