Description

1

Set protocol parameters on the device: SNMP and Telnet

  • If SNMP is used, the MIB view including ISO nodes must be configured. SNMPv2c read and write permissions are mandatory.

For details about how to configure the SNMP protocol on the device, see Configuring the SNMP Protocol on Devices.

  • The Telnet privilege mode on eSight must be the same as that on the device.

For details about how to set Telnet parameters on the device, see Setting Telnet Parameters on Devices.

2

Add devices to eSight.

Select a proper device addition mode based on the site requirements.

For details about how to add devices to eSight, see Adding Devices to eSight.

3

Create and deliver templates.

Templates are used to deliver the same command parameters to different devices.

eSight provides multiple predefined templates. When predefined templates cannot meet user requirements, users can customize templates.

4

Create and deliver the plan table.

To further differentiate device configurations, the plan table can be used to deliver different commands or the same command with different parameters to different devices, but the plan table needs to be manually created.

5

View the task execution result and details.

If the task execution fails, prompts are displayed for fault location and processing.

Creating and Delivering Templates

  1. Choose Resource > Network > Configuration > Smart Configuration Tool from the main menu.

  2. Create a template.

eSight allows templates to be created manually or imported.

    1. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Template Deploy.
    2. Create a template.
    • Manually create a template.

Select the user template or user template subfolder, click , and click .

In the configuration content column, type system-view to enter the system view. You do not need to type quit. When the template is generated, the system automatically adds the quit command.

When copying commands, ensure that the text does not contain formats, such as hidden special characters. If a command contains any format, the system may fail to recognize the command.

Special characters are supported when you customize the configuration content. Exercise caution when you use special characters because some special character combinations may fail the verification.

    • Import the template.

Click , click , or click in the Operation column on the right of the folder.

    NOTE:

The template to be imported can be generated only by exporting the template.

  3. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Template Deploy, select the template to be delivered, and click Deploy.

Configure command parameters and select target devices to deliver the template to them.

Creating and Delivering a Plan Table

  1. Choose Resource > Network > Configuration > Smart Configuration Tool from the main menu.

  2. Create a plan table.
    • Export a plan table template.

In the navigation tree on the left, choose Template Deploy, select the required template, and click .

    • Export the command plan table.

In the navigation tree on the left, choose Plan Table Deploy and click next to Download command plan table template to save and edit the plan table locally.

  3. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Plan Table Deploy and import the template or command plan table to deliver configuration commands to devices.

Viewing the Task Execution Result and Details
