O&M Preparations

O&M Preparations

To monitor the FusionSphere in a better way, set synchronization policies and alarm rules in advance to ensure smooth operations of key devices.

Operation Entry

Creating an SNMP management station

Recommended.

To manage FusionSphere alarms on eSight, create an SNMP management station on the FusionSphere OpenStack OM to report FusionSphere alarms to eSight.

NOTE:

FusionCompute or vCenter server alarms on the FusionSphere cannot be received by eSight.

  1. On the FusionSphere OpenStack OM main menu page, choose Monitoring > Alarm > Alarm Settings.
  2. Choose SNMP Station.
  3. Click Add SNMP Station.
  4. Set necessary parameters and click Save.
NOTE:
  • Maintenance Port must be set to 162 or 10162.
  • When Alarm Source IP Address is set to API Network Floating IP Address, ensure that the network between eSight and the API layer of FusionSphere OpenStack works properly. When Alarm Source IP Address is set to OM Network Floating IP Address, ensure that the network between eSight and the OM layer of FusionSphere OpenStack works properly.

Setting data synchronization policies

Recommended.

eSight can periodically synchronize resource and alarm information based on data synchronization policies that are configured.

NOTE:

By default, eSight executes data synchronization at 03:00 every day.

If the resource synchronization function is disabled, eSight cannot detect resource changes and alarms generated in scenarios such as the disconnection between the FusionSphere and eSight.

  1. Choose Resource > Virtual Resources from the main menu.
  2. Choose Virtual Resources > FusionSphere in the navigation area on the left.
  3. Above the FusionSphere list on the right, click Synchronize Data and choose Settings.

Setting performance data collection policies

Recommended.

The FusionSphere cannot automatically report performance data to eSight. eSight needs to actively obtain the data from the FusionSphere.

If performance synchronization is disabled, eSight cannot display historical FusionSphere performance data.

If you do not care about FusionSphere performance data, you can disable performance synchronization.

  1. Choose Resource > Virtual Resources from the main menu.
  2. Choose Virtual Resources > FusionSphere in the navigation area on the left.
  3. Set Historical performance acquisition switch of the NE to .
NOTE:

Ensure that the time on eSight is consistent with that on the FusionSphere so that the performance data can be collected.

Setting alarm rules

Alarm masking

Alarm masking rules can be specified to prevent devices from reporting unnecessary alarms during site deployment, commissioning, or maintenance, simplifying alarm handling.

  1. Choose Fault > Alarm Settings from the main menu.
  2. Choose Masking Rule in the navigation area on the left.

Redefining

Adjust alarm severities to ensure smooth operation of network devices in a specific area or some key devices and provide quality network assurance services. (For example, high severities can be assigned to important alarms so that network maintenance engineers will handle the alarms preferentially.)

  1. Choose Fault > Alarm Settings from the main menu.
  2. Choose Redefinition Rule in the navigation area on the left.

Remote notification

eSight can send alarms and events to network maintenance engineers by email or SMS message. In this way, they can check and handle alarms and events even when they are unable to access eSight.

  1. Choose Fault > Alarm Settings from the main menu.
  2. Choose Notification Rule in the navigation area on the left.
