Managing the Universal Certificate of Terminals

Managing the Universal Certificate of Terminals

Certificate management is required when the certificate is updated or the customer wants to use a self-prepared certificate. The terminal certificate management function allows you to replace the built-in certificate files of eSight. After certificates are updated on eSight, terminals can obtain the new certificates from eSight.

  • You have the right to operate the Certification Management menu.
  • For the default certificate type, you have obtained the root certificate, device certificate, device private key file, and private key password. For the cloud platform certificate type, you need to obtain the cloud platform certificate file in advance.

By default, eSight V300R006C00 and later versions support device certificate download through HTTPS only. To use the HTTP protocol, you must manually modify the related files in the eSight installation directory. For details, see Configuring HTTP Access Parameters.

  • Each eSight system has a unique root certificate, used to verify devices and applications.

The root certificate of a device must be the same as the root certificate on the eSight.

  • The device certificate and device private key are used for eSight and device authentication.
  • The value of Private Key Password is used for encrypting a certificate to ensure certificate security.

  1. Choose Resource > Collaboration Resource from the main menu.
  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Terminal Device Management > Certificate Management > Manage Universal Terminal Certificates.
  3. Select a certificate type.
  4. Perform the following operations based on the selected certificate type:

    • If the default certificate type is selected, set the paths of the root certificate, device certificate, and device private key file, and enter the private key password.
    • If the cloud platform certificate type is selected, set the path of the cloud platform certificate file.

  5. Click Upload.

After the certificate is uploaded, Workplace-series soft terminals, CloudLink soft/hard terminals, and eSpace Desktop obtain the updated certificate from eSight during communication with eSight and authenticate the certificate. After being authenticated, the soft/hard terminals and eSpace desktops can communicate with eSight. For the cloud platform certificate type, only HUAWEI Board hard terminals are supported.
