Storage Device Capacity Report

Storage Device Capacity Report

Storage device capacity reports display the capacity data of all Huawei storage devices. The reports can be exported.

Procedure

  1. Choose Report > Report from the menu.
  2. On the navigation tree, choose Storage Report > Capacity Report > Storage Device Capacity Report.

    NOTE:
    • To view capacity details, hover your mouse over the chart.
    • The report can be exported on the format of word 2007, excel 2007, and pdf. The statistic charts are exported as figures, and lists are exported as tables.

  3. View storage device capacity reports.

    • TOP 10 Device Capacity Usage: displays the capacity information about devices ranking top 10 in capacity usage.
    • TOP 10 Device Capacity Usage Next 90 days: displays the capacity status of devices ranking top 10 in capacity usage next 90 days.
    • TOP 10 Device Capacity Subscription Ratio: displays the capacity information about devices ranking top 10 in capacity subscription.
    • TOP 10 Storage Pool Usage: displays the storage pool capacity status ranking top 10 in pool usage.
    • TOP 10 Storage Pool Subscription Rate: displays the storage pool subscription rates ranking top 10 in subscription.
    NOTE:
    • Device capacity subscription ratio = total storage pool subscription amount/total storage pool capacity.
    • Storage pool subscription rate = (total LUN capacity of storage pools + total capacity of the storage pool file systems)/total storage pool capacity.
    • You can click at the upper right corner of the page to configure the major and critical thresholds for device capacity usage in multiple scenarios. Related parameters include Device Capacity Usage, LUN Capacity Usage, Pool Capacity Usage, and File System Capacity Usage.

  4. Click the Storage Device tab.

The upper table displays the capacity data of all Huawei storage devices, and the lower table displays capacity data generated 90 days ago, and the forecast after 30 and 90 days. When the historical data of a device is equal to or longer than 90 days, eSight supports prediction of the device performance data after a period of time.

    NOTE:
    • You are advised to expand the capacity of storage devices based on the predicted data before the alarm threshold is reached.
    • You can adjust the capacity alarm threshold based on the site requirements. For example, you can click at the upper right corner and set Device Capacity Usage.
    • The historical capacity curve of the previous three months is drawn based on Used Capacity by day. If the duration is less than three months, each day in the duration is displayed as a point in the historical capacity curve.
    1. Click the name of a specific storage device.
    2. View storage capacity reports of the specific device.
      • Capacity usage trend: displays the historical capacity usage data of the application, and the predicted capacity usage in the future. The historical data is displayed as a solid line, while the predicted data is displayed as a dashed line.
      • Raw capacity usage: displays the used capacity, hot spare capacity, and available capacity of the device. The raw capacity is the total capacity of all disks, and the available capacity is the total free capacity.
      • Top 10 storage pool usage: displays the capacity usage of pools ranking top 10 on the storage device.
      NOTE:

In the capacity usage trend chart, the prediction can be performed only when historical data generated in three or more days is available. When historical data in less than 90 days is available, the historical data and prediction data are displayed in 1:1 mode. If historical data in more than 90 days is available, prediction data of the next year can be displayed.

    3. Query information about storage pools, LUNs, file systems, and quotas on the storage device.

In the storage pool page and the LUN page, capacity data, capacity usage information generated 90 days ago, and predicted capacity usage in the future 30 or 90 days of storage pools and LUNs are displayed in two tables, respectively.

      NOTE:
      • You are advised to expand the capacity of storage devices based on the predicted data before the alarm threshold is reached.
      • You can adjust the capacity alarm threshold based on the site requirements. For example, you can click at the upper right corner and set Pool Capacity Usage and LUN Capacity Usage.
      • If the Whether the Latest column is displayed as Yes, the latest information about the resource is displayed. If the Whether the Latest column is displayed as No, the information before the resource change is displayed.
      • After the resource is renamed or the associated resource is changed, the resource information before and after the change will be displayed in two columns in the table. The Whether the Latest column before and after the change is displayed as No and yes, respectively.
      • After the resource is deleted, information about the resource is displayed in the table and the Whether the Latest column is displayed as No.
      • Quota is the planned capacity or file quantity based on actual situations of users or user groups, and assigned to users and user groups. Only OceanStor 6800 V3, 6900 V3, 5800 V3, 5600 V3, 5500 V3, 5300 V3, 2600 V3, 2200 V3, 2800 V3, 2600 V3 for Video, 18500 V3, and 18800 V3 support the display of quota capacity information.
    4. Go to the file systems tab page and click a file system to view the capacity usage trend of the file system.
      NOTE:
      • In the capacity usage trend chart, the prediction can be performed only when historical data generated in three or more days is available. When historical data in less than 90 days is available, the historical data and prediction data are displayed in 1:1 mode. If historical data in more than 90 days is available, prediction data of the next year can be displayed.
      • You can adjust the capacity alarm threshold based on the site requirements. For example, you can click at the upper right corner and set File System Capacity Usage.

  5. Click the Idle Resource Statistics tab.

Unshared file systems and unmapped LUNs are displayed.

  6. Click the Oversubscribed Resource Statistics tab.

The information about file systems and LUNs whose usage is less than 10% and capacity remains unchanged for more than 180 days is displayed.
