This topic describes how to set protocol parameters for telepresence meeting devices.

Setting Protocol Parameters for Terminals

You can add terminals on the eSight one by one or using the automatic discovery function.

Prerequisites

The username and password for logging in to the terminal web page has been obtained.

Procedure
  1. Log in to the terminal web page.

    1. Type the terminal IP address in the address box and press Enter.

      The terminal login page is displayed.

    2. Enter the username and password, click Login.

      The terminal web page is displayed.

  2. Choose System Settings > Network > SNMP Settings.
  3. Set Enable SNMP to Enable in the Common Settings area.

    Set the IP address of the trap server to the IP address of the eSight.

  4. Set parameters in the SNMPv3 user authentication information area and click save.

    For details, see Table 16-2.

    Password used in SNMPv3 protocol identification.

    Enter a string that contains a maximum of 40 characters.

    Encryption protocol

    Protocol used in authentication information encryption.

    The default value is DES.

    NOTE:

    Exercise caution when using DES because it may bring security risks.

    Encryption password

    Password that is used in authentication information encryption.

    Enter a string that contains a maximum of 40 characters.

Setting Protocol Parameters for MCU Devices

You can add multipoint control units (MCUs) to eSight one by one or using the automatic discovery function.

Procedure

Perform the following steps on the MCU. (The MCU8 is used as an example.)

  1. Log in to the MCU as the admin user.
  2. Type the system-view command next to the <MCU8650C> prompt and press Enter.
  3. Type the snmp-config command next to the [MCU8650C] prompt and press Enter. Here, Table 16-3 describes the parameters used in the configuration.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    The default value is V3 Mode.

    SNMP Get Community

    Read community name of the SNMP. Perform the read operation when the value of this parameter on the eSight is the same as that on the device.

    SNMP Set Community

    Name of the SNMP write community. Perform the write operation when the value of this parameter on the eSight is the same as that on the device.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    SNMP Trap Community

    Name of the Trap community. Report data when the name on the eSight is the same as that on the device.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    SNMP Trap TimeOut (s)

    Timeout period of the Trap operation.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    The default value is 3.

    SNMP Trap Retries

    Retry time of the Trap operation.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    The default value is 3.

    SNMP Language

    SNMP interface language.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    The default value is English.

    SNMP Trap Dest Number

    Destination address number of Trap operations.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    SNMP Trap Dest Addrtype

    Destination address type of the Trap operation.

    Set this parameter based on the site requirements.

    Set this parameter to ipv4.

    SNMP Trap Dest1 Addr

    Destination IP address of the Trap operation. The MCU sends Trap packets to this IP address.

    Set this parameter to the IP address of eSight.

    NOTE:

    For 9-series MCUs, the SNMP V3 Trap send Mode parameter is added to specify the mode for sending trap messages in V3 connection mode. The default value is IMS(trap).

  4. Type the snmpv3-user-config command next to the [MCU8650C] prompt and press Enter. Here, Table 16-4 describes the parameters used in the configuration.

    Encryption password.

    Set this parameter to the encryption password that is set on the eSight.

  5. Type the quit command next to the [MCU8650C] prompt and press Enter.
  6. Type the save command next to the <MCU8650C> prompt and press Enter.

    The following message is displayed asking whether you want to save the configuration.

    are you sure to save config? (y/n):

  7. Type y and press Enter.
  8. Type the reboot command next to the <MCU8650C> prompt and press Enter.

    The following message is displayed asking whether you want to restart the MCU.

    are you sure to reboot MCU now? (y/n):

  9. Type y and press Enter.

Setting Protocol Parameters for Telepresence Devices

Telepresence devices include three-screen, single-screen, and room presence (RP) devices. You can add the RP devices and terminals to the eSight in the same way and add three-screen and single-screen telepresence devices to the eSight in the same way. You can add telepresence devices on the eSight one by one.

Configuration on the Central Control Host
  1. Log in to the web page of the central control host.

    1. Type the IP address of the central control host in the address box and press Enter.

      The login page of the central control host is displayed.

    2. Enter the password and then click Login.

      The central control host web page is displayed.

  2. Enable HTTPS settings.

    1. Choose System Settings > General. In the Common Settings area, select Enable for HTTPS settings and use the default settings of the other parameters.
    2. Click Save.

  3. Set parameters in the API Server User and Network Manager areas.

    1. Choose System Settings > Other Users. In the API Server User area, set a default password for the api user.
    2. In the Network Manager area, set the IP address of the eSight server.

      The eSight server IP address must be set so that the alarms can be sent to the eSight.

    3. Click Save.

  4. Set the eSight alarm user.

    1. Click the Device Control tab, right-click Telepresence Host, and choose Configure NMS from the shortcut menu.
    2. In the Alarm Account area, set an alarm user name and password.
      NOTE:

      The alarm user name and password set on the eSight and on the telepresence host must be the same so that the telepresence host can report alarms to the eSight.

    3. Click Save.

Configuration on the Terminal

Set SNMP protocol parameters on the main, left, and right terminals to the parameters that are set on the eSight. For details, see Setting Protocol Parameters for Terminals.

Setting Protocol Parameters for GKs

In order to make gatekeeper (GK) be connected to eSight normally, you need to configure the protocol parameters on GK.

Prerequisites

Only two versions of GK support Telnet protocol to configure parameters, which are V100R002C01B013 and V100R002C01B014.

The Telnet connection is disabled by default because it may bring security risks. Therefore, consider security requirements before enabling the Telnet.

Context

The GK devices can only use SNMPv2c to communicate with eSight. Exercise caution when using the SNMPv2c protocol because it may bring security risks.

Procedure
  1. Decompress the GK installation package GKInstall.exe and run the Setup.bat file in the GKInstall directory.

    When the installation is complete, the default GK directory is GK installation directory\Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd

  2. Modify the GK configuration file.

    1. In GK installation directory\Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd\Switch System\SwitchCentre, open the GK configuration file gkcfg.ini using the notepad.
    2. Add the Telnet and SNMP ports in the GK configuration file.

      [CLI-SETTING]

      Cli-port=4000

      [SNMP-SETTING]

      Snmp-port=161

      Enable-SNMP=1

  3. Save the modification and restart the GK service.
  4. Set GK alarm parameters.

    1. Log in to the GK using Telnet.

      The Telnet connection is disabled by default because it may bring security risks. Therefore, consider security requirements before enabling the Telnet.

      1. Choose Start > Run.
      2. In the Run dialog box that is displayed, enter telnet GK IP address4000.
      3. Log in to the GK as the dopra user.
    2. Set alarm parameters.
      1. Enter the system view where you can edit parameters.

        system-view

      2. Set the SNMP read community name.

        snmp-agent community read Public@123

      3. Set the SNMP write community name.

        snmp-agent community write Private@123

      4. Enable the trap function.

        snmp-agent trap enable

      5. Set the IP address and security domain name of the server that receives GK alarms.

        snmp-agent target-host trap address udp-domain eSight IP address udp-port 162 params securityname securityname

      6. Enable the SNMP agent function.

        snmp-agent start

      7. Quit the system view.

        quit

      8. Save the configuration.

        save

      9. When the system displays the following information, type y and press Enter.
        Are you sure to save current configuration? All saved information will be overwritten! [Y/N]
      10. Verify the configuration of GK alarm parameters. If the following information is displayed, the configuration is successful.
        Save configuration successfully!

Setting Protocol Parameters for RSE

To connect the RSE to eSight normally, you need to set protocol parameters on the RSE.

Prerequisites

The user name and password for logging in to the RSE6500 has been obtained.

Procedure

Perform the following steps on the RSE6500:

  1. Use an SSH tool to log in to the RSE6500.
  2. Run the following command to access the view for setting parameters to connect to the eSight:

    Indicates the version of the SNMP protocol to be used. The options are v2, v3, and v2 and v3.

    The RSE6500 uses SNMP v3 to connect to the eSight. Therefore, set this parameter to 3.

    snmp trap retry times

    Indicates the times of SNMP retransmissions. The value ranges from 1 to 5.

    Default value: 0

    snmp trap dest address number

    Indicates the number of destination IP addresses of eSight.

    Enter the number of eSight IP addresses to which trap messages are sent. If no alarm needs to be reported, set this parameter to 0 and disable SNMP.

    snmp trap dest address

    Indicates the IP address of the eSight to which trap messages are sent through SNMP.

    Enter the IP address of the eSight.

    snmp v3 trap security level

    Indicates the security level for SNMP v3 transmission. The options are noauth_nopriv, auth_nopriv, and auth_priv three.

    The RSE6500 uses auth_priv to connect to the eSight. Therefore, set this parameter to 3.

    snmp v3 trap username

    Indicates the component name used for connecting to eSight.

    Enter the user name.

    snmp v3 trap auth algorithm

    Indicates the algorithm used by the eSight for decrypting packets. The options are MD5 and SHA1.

    The eSight uses MD5 to decrypt packets. Therefore, set this parameter to 1.

    snmp v3 trap auth password

    Indicates the password used for connecting to the eSight.

    Enter the authentication password. The password must be the same as the value set on the eSight.

    snmp v3 trap priv algorithm

    Indicates the algorithm used by the RSE6500 for encrypting packets. The value is AES128.

    When the RSE6500 connects to the eSight, AES128 is used. Therefore, set this parameter to 1.

    snmp v3 trap priv password

    Indicates the encryption password used for connecting to the eSight.

    Enter the encryption password. The password must be the same as the value set on the eSight.

    When the following message is displayed, the protocol parameters for connecting to the eSight are set successfully:

    set config success!

Setting Protocol Parameters for EUA

In order to make EUA be connected to eSight normally, you need to configure the protocol parameters on EUA.

Procedure
  1. Log in to HUAWEI Operation & Maintenance System.
  2. Click next to the ME list in the upper right corner of the page and select an EUA to access the MML Command- EUA page.
  3. Run the MOD SNMPCFG command to configure parameters for interconnection with eSight. Table 16-6 describes the data plan.
