Managing Terminal Number Resources

Managing Terminal Number Resources

Number resource management allows you to preset and manage terminal number resources on eSight and configure the automatic number allocation function for terminals.

Prerequisites

You have collected the terminal numbers and identifiers (SNs or MAC addresses).

Context

NOTE:

For the IP phones, the eSight automatic number allocation function is available only for eSpace 7900 and 8900 series IP phones of V200R003C00 or later.

  • You can bind a number to the SN or MAC address of a terminal. Then eSight can allocate the number to the terminal based on the bound SN or MAC address during automatic number allocation. The numbers and identifiers are in one-to-one mappings.
  • If the numbers and identifiers are not bound, eSight allocates a random number within the number segment to a terminal.

If the terminal identifier is changed, for example, from Serial Number to MAC Address, the allocated number becomes invalid, and eSight needs to allocate a new number to the terminal.

Setting Terminal Number Allocation Parameters

  1. Choose Resource > Collaboration Resource from the main menu.
  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Terminal Device Management > System Configuration.
  3. In the Number Allocation area, set terminal number allocation parameters.

    • Set Switch of Number Allocation to ON.
      • If Number Allocation Mode is set to uPortal, uPortal allocates numbers to terminals. For detailed number allocation operations on uPortal, see uPortal documents.
        NOTE:

For the IP phones, the uPortal dispatch Number function is available only for 78, eSpace 79, and eSpace 89 series IP phones.

      • If Type of dispatch Number is set to eSight dispatch Number, and MAC Address or Serial Number is selected, eSight actively allocates numbers to terminals based on the defined terminal number allocation policy.
    • If Switch of Number Allocation is set to OFF, the terminal number allocation function is disabled.
    • Set the terminal identifier to uPortal dispatch Number or Serial Number or MAC Address based on the site requirements.

If the terminal identifier changes, the allocated number becomes invalid and eSight needs to allocate a new number.

  4. Click OK.

Importing Terminal Number Resources in Batches

  1. Choose Resource > Collaboration Resource from the main menu.
  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Terminal Device Management > Resource Management > Terminal Number.
  3. Download the template and enter parameters following the template instructions, and save the settings.

    NOTE:

In the template, you do not need to manually enter SIP password for each phone number in the Password column. eSight automatically associates management BIN channels of IP PBXs or online USM with passwords. For details about BIN channel configuration, see Managing BIN Channel.

  4. Click Import, select the configured template, and click OK.

The newly added terminal numbers are displayed on the interface.

  5. Optional: Click Synchronize to synchronize the SIP password for each phone number.

Manually Adding Terminal Number Resources

  1. Choose Resource > Collaboration Resource from the main menu.
  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Terminal Device Management > Resource Management > Terminal Number.
  3. Click Add and enter a terminal number.

    NOTE:

In the template, you do not need to manually enter SIP password for each phone number in the Password column. eSight automatically associates management BIN channels of IP PBXs or online USM with passwords. For details about BIN channel configuration, see Managing BIN Channel.

  4. Click OK.

The newly added terminal number is displayed on the interface.

  5. Optional: Click Synchronize to synchronize the SIP password for each phone number.
