This section describes how to set main functions of system services.

Configuring the DHCP Service

This section describes how to configure the protocol status, IP address, subnet mask, and IP address range of the DHCP service. The V300R010C00SPC500 version does not support this function. The V300R010C00SPC500 version having a patch version later than V300R010C00SPC500 installed also does not support this function.

Prerequisites

TCP port 4321 has been enabled. For details, see "Maintenance Reference > Configuration Files > Servers Management > listener_port_config.properties" in the Maintenance Guide.

Context

In the eSight outband networking scenario, the DHCP service must be enabled for the eSight network port that communicates with the management port of the managed server.

Procedure
  1. Choose Resource > Server from the main menu.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Service Settings > DHCP Service.

  3. Configure the DHCP service information. The following table describes related parameters.

  4. Click Apply.

    The application configuration result is displayed.

  5. Click OK.

Configuring the Automatic Detection Service

When a managed device sends a discovery request to the eSight, the eSight can use the preset user names and passwords to attempt to connect to the managed device.The V300R010C00SPC500 version does not support this function. The V300R010C00SPC500 version having a patch version later than V300R010C00SPC500 installed also does not support this function.

Prerequisites

The broadcast function has been enabled on the device that needs to use the automatic detection service.

For details about how to enable this function, see the Command Reference.

Procedure
  1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

  2. In the navigation tree, choose Service Settings > Auto Detection Service.
  3. Click Modify.
  4. In the User Name, Password, and Confirm Password text boxes, enter all possible user names, passwords, and confirmation passwords required for attempting to connect to the target device respectively.
  5. Click Apply to enable the automatic detection service.

Configuring an IP Address Resource Pool

An IP address resource pool is used to configure IP addresses for the SSDP service, and E9000 blades and switch modules that support direct communication with eSight.

NOTE:

The iBMC version of the E9000 blade must be 2.5 or later, and the HMM version must be 6.5 or later.

Procedure
  1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Server.

  2. In the navigation tree, choose Service Settings > IP resource Pool.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Set parameters related to the IP address resource pool.
  5. Click Save.

Configuring the SSDP Automatic Discovery

The Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) service is used to automatically discover servers by SN-IP mapping and IP resource pool allocation, and add them to eSight for management.

Context
  • Only V3 rack and high-density servers support SNMPv3 access.
  • Only V5 rack servers support Redfish access.
  • The server management network port and eSight must be in the same LAN. The IPv6 address configured on eSight is the IP address used to communicate with the server.
Procedure
  1. Enable the multi-subnet function on eSight.

    • Windows

  2. Configure an IPv6 address in the med_node_1_svc.xml file in eSight installation directory\AppBase\sysagent\etc\sysconf\svcbase on the eSight server.

    • Windows
      1. Stop the eSight service.
        1. Log in to the eSight server as the Administrator user.
          NOTE:

          If security hardening has been performed for the Windows operating system, you need to log in to the server as the SWMaster user.

        2. Among all programs, choose eSight > eSight Console.
        3. In the eSight Console dialog box, click Stop.

          When the status of every process is STOPPED and the message "stopping eSight system succeeded" is displayed, the eSight service has been stopped.

      2. Obtain the IPv6 address of the eSight server.
        1. Choose Start > Run in the Windows operating system.
        2. Enter cmd and press Enter to open the command-line interface.
        3. Run the following command to check the IPv6 address of the eSight server:

          ipconfig

          NOTE:

          The eSight server has a local link IPv6 address by default. If an IPv6 address is configured for the eSight server, the IPv6 address can also be obtained after you run the ipconfig command.

      3. Open the med_node_1_svc.xml file in the eSight installation directory\AppBase\sysagent\etc\sysconf\svcbase directory using a text editor.
      4. Change the value of nodeIPV6 to the IPv6 address of the eSight server or the IPv6 address of the local link.
      5. Save and close the med_node_1_svc.xml file.
      6. Start the eSight service.
        1. Choose Start > All Programs > eSight > eSight Console.
        2. In the eSight Console dialog box, click Start.

          When the status of every process is RUNNING and the message "starting eSight system succeeded." is displayed, the eSight service has been started.

    • SUSE Linux/EulerOS
      1. Stop the eSight service.
        1. Log in to the eSight server as the ossuser user.
        2. Run the following commands to stop the eSight service:

          cd eSight installation directory/bin

          ./shutdown.sh

          Are you sure you want to stop the system? (Please enter y or n):

        3. Enter y and press Enter.

          When the status of every process is STOPPED and the message "stopping eSight system succeeded" is displayed, the eSight service has been stopped.

      2. Obtain the IPv6 address of the eSight server.
        1. Switch to the root user.

          sudo su - root

        2. Run the following command to check the IPv6 address of the eSight server:

          ifconfig

          NOTE:

          The eSight server has a local link IPv6 address by default. If an IPv6 address is configured for the eSight server, the IPv6 address can also be obtained after you run the ipconfig command.

        3. Run the following command to switch to the ossuser user:

          sudo su - ossuser

      3. Run the following commands to open the med_node_1_svc.xml file in the eSight installation directory\AppBase\sysagent\etc\sysconf\svcbase directory:

        cd eSight installation directory/AppBase/sysagent/etc/sysconf/svcbase

        vi med_node_1_svc.xml

      4. Press i, and change the value of nodeIPV6 to the IPv6 address of the eSight server or the IPv6 address of the local link.
      5. Press Esc and run the :wq command to save and exit the file.
      6. Run the following commands to start the eSight service:

        cd eSight installation directory/bin

        ./startup.sh

        When the status of every process is RUNNING and the message "starting eSight system succeeded." is displayed, the eSight service has been started.

  3. Choose Resource > Server from the main menu.

  4. Choose Service Settings > SSDP Automatic Discovery from the navigation tree on the left.
  5. Add servers through the SSDP service.

    • SN-IP mapping
      1. In the Download template area, click the Excel template.
      2. Configure the information about the servers to be imported in batches in the template and save the Excel file.
        NOTE:

        Carefully read the configuration requirements and restrictions on the Notes sheet of the template and configure the template based on the requirements and restrictions.

      3. On the server import page, click corresponding to Upload file and select the Excel file you have saved.
      4. Click Upload.

        The server information in the batch import template is displayed in the lower part of the page.

      5. Select the servers to be added and click Start.

        If Status of a server is Failed, determine the failure cause based on the value of Details.

    • Resource pool allocation
      1. On the SSDP Automatic Discovery page, click IP Resource Pool Allocation.
      2. In the Protocol Config area, configure the server access protocol as prompted.
        • V3 servers can be added through the SNMPv3 protocol.

          By default, eSight provides the SNMPv3 protocol template DefaultSNMPV3.

          Click Config Protocol Template and customize an SNMPv3 protocol template as prompted.

        • V5 servers can be added through the Redfish protocol.
      3. In the Select IP Resource Pool area, select an IP address resource pool as prompted.

        If no IP resource pool is available, click Create IP Resource Pool and create an IP address resource pool as prompted.

      4. In the The Factory IP area, configure the factory IP addresses of servers as prompted.
        NOTE:

        If the factory IP addresses of all servers are the same, you need to set the factory IP address.

      5. Click Start.

        If DiscoverResult of the server is Failed, determine the failure cause based on the value of Details.
