Updating a License

Updating a License

After you have applied for a license, import the license to the eSight for the license to take effect.

NOTE:
  • The eSight allows users to import a new license that specifies fewer online users compared with the current license.
  • When the number of online users exceeds the limit specified in the newly imported license:
  • When the admin user attempts to log in, the eSight forcibly logs out the common user whose online duration is the longest. The admin user logs in successfully until the number of online users does not reach the limit specified by the license. If the number of online users still exceeds the limit specified by the license after the eSight forcibly logs out all common users, a login failure message is displayed.
  • When a common user attempts to log in, a login failure message is displayed and the online users are not forcibly logged out.

Prerequisites

  • You have the operation rights for Update License.
  • A new license is obtained, for details, see the eSight License User Guide.

Procedure

  1. If a license is in the validity period or trial state: Choose System > System Management > License Management from the main menu. On the License Management page, click Import License.

    NOTE:

If a license is in the trial, expired, or invalid state: The license interceptor page is displayed after login. On the displayed page, click here next to If a license file is available.

  2. On the Import License page, click next to License file.
  3. In the displayed dialog box, select the new license file, and click Open.
  4. Click Upload to upload the license file to the eSight.
  5. Click Apply. The license file is immediately applied.

After a license is imported successfully, log in to the eSight as a user with the administrator rights. Choose System > System Management > License Management from the main menu. On the license management page, the basic license information, resource control information, and function control information are consistent with that of the newly loaded license, and the license revocation code is empty.
