Hardware and Software Configurations

Different combinations of the eSight Platform and components have different hardware and software requirements.

Management scale (Number of equivalent NEs) = Number of eSight network management licenses (devices) x 1 + Number of eSight WLAN management licenses (APs) x 1 + Number of eSight PON management licenses (ONUs) x 1 + Number of eSight UC/IPT/CC/ICP management licenses (IP phones)/20 + Number of eSight VC/TP management licenses (terminals)/20 + Number of eSight video surveillance management licenses (cameras)/25 + Number of eSight eLTE management licenses (devices)/3 + Number of eSight eLTE management licenses (modules)/10 + Number of eSight storage management licenses (devices) x 50 + Number of eSight server management licenses (devices) x 2 + Number of eSight microwave management licenses (devices)/2 + Number of eSight virtualization management licenses (CPUs) x 1

The equivalent NE conversion formulas for related devices are as follows:

  • Number of eSight network management licenses (devices) = Number of switches + Number of routers + Number of ACs + Number of fat APs + Number of firewalls + Number of VSs on data center switches
  • Number of eSight WLAN management licenses (APs) = Number of fat APs + Number of fit APs + Number of central APs + Number of remote access units (RUs)
  • Number of eSight PON management licenses (ONUs) = Number of ONUs (ONTs or MxUs)
  • Number of eSight UC/IPT/CC/ICP management licenses (IP phones) = Number of IP phones
  • Number of eSight VC/TP management licenses (endpoints) = Number of TE10 devices + Number of TE20 devices + Number of TEX0 devices + Number of DP300 devices + Number of TE Desktop devices + Number of CloudLink soft clients + SoftConsole clients
  • Number of eSight video surveillance management licenses (cameras) = Number of one-channel cameras
  • Number of eSight eLTE management licenses (devices) = Number of eLTE service engines x 100 + Number of eLTE eNodeBs x 10 + Number of industry terminals x 1
  • Number of eSight eLTE management licenses (modules) = Number of eLTE-IoT modules

  • Number of eSight storage management licenses (devices) = Number of enterprise storage devices + Number of HUAWEI Cloud storage devices
  • Number of eSight virtualization management licenses (CPUs) = Number of physical CPUs

In the upgrade scenario, eSight is compatible with the following operating systems and databases:

  • Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.0 SP3, Novell SuSE LINUX Enterprise Server 12.0 SP2
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6/7.3
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) - Standard Edition, Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit) - Standard Edition, Windows Server 2016 (64-bit) - Standard Edition
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - Standard Edition, Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - Standard Edition, Microsoft SQL Server 2016 - Standard Edition

eSight can still run on these operating systems and databases. However, preinstallation delivery is not supported. To use these operating systems and databases, customers need to purchase them by themselves.

After the operating systems and databases reach the EOS time, eSight will continue to provide solutions for problems caused by eSight until the eSight EOS time arrives. Handling of problems related to the operating systems and databases depends on the response of the suppliers' technical support personnel.

Configuration Requirements for the eSight Server (Physical Machine)

    0 to 10 nodes (specifications when the NTC is deployed on the same server as eSight: 2000 flows/s, number of monitored APs + number of monitored interfaces ≤ 100)

    0-150 nodes (NTCs are deployed on different servers. Specification: 10,000 flow/s. Number of monitoring APs + Number of monitoring interfaces ≤ 500)

  • SLA:

    Test cases: The SQL Server database supports 2000 tests cases, and the Oracle database supports 3000 test cases.

Operating system: Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit)-Standard edition

Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2012-Standard edition

Two-node cluster: not supported

The disk I/O speed must be greater than or equal to 100 MB/s. It is recommended that the disk I/O speed be greater than 180 MB/s.
  1. A maximum of 5000 equivalent NEs can be managed, and the number of managed virtual machines cannot exceed 5000.
  2. The specifications of network traffic and SLA are the same as those of physical servers when the management scale ranges from 0 to 5000.
  3. The server supports Huawei FusionSphere 6.5 /6.3.1/6.3 (KVM), VMware ESXi 5.5/6.5, and Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V virtual platforms. (The EulerOS can be deployed only on FusionSphere virtual machines.)

Database: MySQL 5.7 Enterprise edition

The two-node cluster is supported with the OMMHA two-node cluster software.

  2. Required when the number of network traffic collection nodes exceeds 10. Only one NTC node can be deployed for the NTC to manage a maximum of 350 collection nodes at 30,000 flows/s. The number of APs and monitored interfaces that collect network traffic cannot exceed 1000.
  3. Virtual machines are not supported when there are more than 100 nodes (number of monitored APs + number of monitored interfaces >500).

The database is not required. Requirements for the operating system are the same as those for the eSight server.
