Device Software Management

Through device software management of eSight, you can upgrade the device software version, install the software patch, upgrade the signature database, and upload certificate files of AC devices.

With the rapid development of network technologies and expansion of the network scale, an enterprise needs to manage and maintain as many as hundreds of network devices. This inspires urgent needs for simplified device management. The device software management function of eSight supports version upgrade and signature database upgrade. This allows network administrators to upgrade and manage devices in batches, improving their working efficiency.

Device software management is a function module provided by eSight for upgrading software versions, patches, and signature databases of devices and uploading certificate files of ACs. In the current version, the AC can be used to upgrade the software version of fit APs. In addition, batch software upgrade and file management are supported for SVF AS devices, switches (including data center switches and campus switches), ARs (including AR531 IoT devices), ACs, firewalls, and fat APs. The module provides three sub-functions: version task management, signature database task management, and file management. The version task management function manages tasks for upgrading device software versions and patches and tasks for uploading certificate files of ACs. The signature database task management function manages device signature database upgrade tasks. You can view the upgrade status of each device in the task details. The file management function manages software versions, patch files, license files, signature database files, and certificate files of devices based on the device type.

Version Task Management

Manages all version upgrade tasks and refreshes the upgrade status in real time.

• The task uniformly manages the version and patch upgrade of a type of devices and uploads the certificate files of AC devices.
• The status of upgrade tasks is refreshed in real time. You can re-execute failed tasks.

• The wizard-based upgrade allows you to create upgrade tasks following a wizard.

• You can create upgrade tasks in three steps and check task summary information.
• You can continue to create upgrade tasks or go to the task management page to check task execution information.

Signature Database Task Management

Manages all signature database upgrade tasks and refreshes the upgrade status in real time,

1. Device software management delivers version upgrade or patch upgrade commands to devices through Telnet or STelnet.
2. During the upgrade, eSight uses FTP/SFTP to transfer upgrade files such as version files, patch files, signature database files, and certificate files to the device.
3. The device upgrade status is updated in real time in the task details. After the upgrade is complete, the upgrade result is displayed.
