Network Position

The SNMP northbound interface (NBI) of the eSight connects the eSight to the third-party system and to the NE management system. The NBI functions as an external interface for the entire system.

The SNMP NBI of the eSight complies with SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3. When the eSight interconnects with the third-party system, the eSight administrator must negotiate with the third-party system administrator to use the same SNMP version.

Figure 4-3 shows the position of the SNMP NBI.

The SNMP NBI of the eSight receives and responds to requests from the third-party system over SNMP. When an alarm occurs, the NBI sends a real-time alarm trap to the third-party system.
