Acknowledging, Unacknowledging, or Clearing an Alarm Fails

Symptom

The third-party system connects properly to the SNMP NBI, successfully receives heartbeat and alarm traps, but fails to acknowledge, unacknowledge, or clear an alarm.

Possible Causes

  • The alarm is a historical alarm.
  • The required log process and fault process are stopped.
  • The configured MIB file does not match the loaded MIB file.

Solution

  1. Log in to the eSight client, and check the historical alarms for the entered alarm sequence number. If the alarm sequence number is available, the alarm is a historical alarm, and you cannot acknowledge, unacknowledge or clear the alarm.
  2. Log in to the maintenance tool client, and check whether the required log process and fault process are running. If they are not running, start the processes.
  3. Check whether the MIB file loaded to the third-party system is consistent with the MIB file configured on the SNMP NBI. If they are inconsistent, reload the MIB file to the third-party system or reconfigure the MIB file on the SNMP NBI.
