Adding devices to eSight

Before managing devices, you need to add them to eSight. Devices can be added to eSight through automatic discovery, batch import, or single addition.

Commissioning the network monitoring function

Commission eSight network monitoring functions such as topology management, alarm management, and performance management.

Commissioning the device management and service management functions

Commission the device management and service management functions of eSight based on devices and services deployed on the network.

(Optional) Commissioning the authentication server

eSight supports the following authentication modes:

• LDAP authentication: Only accounts authenticated by the LDAP authentication server can log in to and use eSight.
• RADIUS authentication: Only accounts authenticated by the RAIDUS authentication server can log in to and use eSight.
• Local authentication: Only accounts created on eSight can log in to and use eSight.

(Optional) Commissioning the northbound interface

• The SNMP northbound interface provides an alarm channel between eSight and the upper-layer NMS. The upper-layer NMS can receive alarms reported by eSight and perform operations on the alarms on eSight.
• The FTP northbound interface provides a channel for transferring files between eSight and the upper-layer NMS. That is, the FTP or SFTP protocol is used to transfer performance files from eSight to the upper-layer NMS.
