(Optional) Setting the Wi-Fi Parameters
The TE10 has a built-in Wi-Fi module and thereby can connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot, serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot, or both at the same time.
When Wi-Fi under System Settings > General > Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the web interface is set to Disable, the Wi-Fi function is unavailable for the endpoint.
Connecting to a Wi-Fi Hotspot
- On the web interface, choose System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Settings and set the Wi-Fi client parameters, as shown in Figure 2-28.
- Before connecting the TE10 to a Wi-Fi hotspot, disable the SIP ALG function of the wireless router.
- Only 5 GHz Wi-Fi hotspots can be found and connected when the TE10 has Bluetooth enabled or its Wi-Fi mode is set to 5 GHz under System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Hotspot. 5 GHz is currently unsupported in some countries.
Table 2-13 describes the parameters for connecting the endpoint to a hotspot.Table 2-13 Parameter descriptionParameter
Description
Wi-Fi client
Specifies whether the Wi-Fi client is enabled. Two options are available: Enable and Disable.
AMPDU
Video artifacts or freezing may occur if the endpoint is not compatible with its connected wireless router. In this case, set this parameter to Disable. Then the endpoint will communicate with the wireless router in non-aggregated mode.
Network mode
Specifies the mode in which the endpoint obtains an IP address.
- Static IP: Set IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway address.
- Dynamic IP: The endpoint automatically obtains an IP address from the DHCP server. Ensure that your network has a DHCP server before selecting this option.
IP address
Specifies the IP address of the endpoint.
Subnet mask
Specifies the subnet mask of the IP address.
Gateway address
Specifies the IP address of the gateway.
- After Wi-Fi client is set to Enable, the detected hotspots are displayed under Select WLAN. Select one of the hotspots and connect the endpoint to it.
Setting the Wi-Fi Hotspot
Only the connections from 5 GHz supported devices are allowed when the TE10 has Bluetooth enabled or its Wi-Fi mode is set to 5 GHz under System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Hotspot.
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Wi-Fi hotspot |
Specifies whether to enable the Wi-Fi hotspot. Two options are available: Enable and Disable. |
Wi-Fi mode |
Specifies the Wi-Fi mode.
|
Whitelist |
If you select Enable, only the device whose MAC address lies in the whitelist is allowed to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot. |
SSID number |
Specifies the Wi-Fi hotspot identifier. |
Access via password |
Specifies whether a password is required for other devices to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot of the TE10. NOTE:
If Access via password is set to Enable, you need to set Identity authentication mode, Encryption mode, and Password. |
Identity authentication mode |
Specifies the identity authentication mode used on the Wi-Fi network. |
Encryption mode |
Specifies the encryption method used on the Wi-Fi network. |
Password |
Specifies the password for connecting to the Wi-Fi hotspot. The Password field is left blank by default. NOTE:
To fortify security of your endpoint, you are advised to change the Wi-Fi hotspot connection password periodically. |
Channel |
Specifies the channel. |
IP address |
Specifies the IP address of the endpoint. |
Subnet mask |
Specifies the subnet mask of the endpoint. |
Start IP address |
Specifies the start IP address for the devices connected to the endpoint. |
End IP address |
Specifies the end IP address for the devices connected to the endpoint. |
After the Wi-Fi hotspot is enabled, the devices connected to the hotspot are listed under Connected Devices and will be updated in real time.
Each record in the list includes the serial number, name, MAC address, and IP address of the connected device.
