Setting General Conference Parameters

Setting General Conference Parameters

General conference parameters on your endpoint include the answering mode, whether to mute local audio for answered calls, whether to enable do not disturb (DND), and default call bandwidth.

Background

General conference parameters apply to the following conferences:

  • Point-to-point conferences initiated by your site
  • Conferences that your site joins by answering the call from a remote site

Procedure

  1. Choose System Settings > Conference and click the General Settings tab.
  2. Set the general conference parameters listed in Table 3-8.

    Table 3-8  General conference parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Setting

    Answer mode

Specifies how your endpoint handles incoming calls.

    • Manual: Your endpoint prompts you to handle a call when the call comes in.
    • Auto: Your endpoint automatically answers incoming calls when not being used in a conference.

    The default value is Manual.

Mute local audio for answered calls

Specifies whether the endpoint turns off all sounds generated at your site when your endpoint joins a conference.

    NOTICE:
If you enable this parameter, no remote site can hear your site.

This parameter is available only when Answer mode is set to Auto.

    The default value is Disable.

    Enable do not disturb

Specifies whether the do-not-disturb function is configurable on the remote control UI.

The do-not-disturb function blocks all incoming calls.

    The default value is Yes.

    Default call bandwidth

Specifies the default data transmission rate for your endpoint.

    NOTE:

If this parameter is set incorrectly, the video quality will be affected or the call might even fail to be set up.

The default value is 1920 kbps.

    Maximum incoming call bandwidth

Specifies the maximum bandwidth allowed for receiving calls. The bandwidths used for placing and receiving calls cannot exceed this bandwidth.

The settings of this bandwidth and the settings of Default call bandwidth are independent of each other.

The default value is 2048 kbps.

    Call settings

Specifies whether you can set the call type and data transmission rate before initiating point-to-point calls.

    The default value is Disable.

    Wi-Fi network preferred

Specifies whether to prioritize a Wi-Fi network when both wireless and wired networks are available.

    The default value is Disable.

    Allow IP call

Specifies whether the endpoint can call a remote site by IP address.

    The default value is Enable.

    Allow H.323 incoming calls

Specifies whether the endpoint allows remote sites to call its H.323 number. After this function is disabled, a remote site is notified that the called endpoint is busy when failing to call the endpoint's H.323 number.

    The default value is Enable.

    Unified access number

Specifies the prefix that will be uniformly added to each number dialed by the endpoint. For example, 0755 is specified as the Unified access number. If the number to dial is 07556999, you only need to enter 6999. Then 0755 will be automatically prefixed to 6999.

No default value is set for this parameter.

    Recording server address

Specifies the IP address or URL of the Recording & Streaming Engine (RSE).

No default value is set for this parameter.

    Background image

Specifies whether to enable the function of allowing you to join a conference by scanning a QR code from the WeLink client and the function of prompting you that the endpoint is not in any conferences (namely, in idle state).
    • QR code - cloud platform: Select this option if your endpoint is located on a Huawei cloud. After the endpoint stays in idle state for 15s, the screen connected to the endpoint automatically displays the UI where you can join a conference by scanning a QR code through CloudLink SoftClient. Alternatively, you can press the Back button until this UI appears.

This UI consists of a background image and a QR code. The QR code is generated based on the value of Scanning device address and the SIP or H.323 number registered for the endpoint.

    • QR code - intranet: This function is available only when Scanning device address is specified for the endpoint and the E.164 number is configured for the endpoint when it registers with the GK. After the endpoint stays in idle state for 15s, the screen connected to the endpoint automatically displays the UI where you can join a conference by scanning a QR code. Alternatively, you can press the Back button until this UI appears.‏

This UI consists of a background image and a QR code. The QR code is generated based on the value of Scanning device address and the E.164 number mentioned above.

    • Idle state: After the endpoint stays in idle state for 15s, the screen connected to the endpoint automatically displays the UI that prompts you the endpoint is idle state. Alternatively, you can press the Back button until this UI appears.
    • Disable: Both functions described above are disabled.
The background image on the UI where you can join a conference by scanning a QR code and the image on the UI that prompts you the endpoint is idle state are shared, which can be replaced using the upgrade tool.

    The default value is Disable.

    Scanning device address

This parameter is available when Background image is set to QR code - intranet or QR code - cloud platform.
    • When Background image is set to QR code - intranet, set this parameter to the IP address of the WeLink server.
    • When Background image is set to QR code - cloud platform, this parameter value is automatically provisioned by the eSight server.

No default value is set for this parameter.

Obtain the address from the WeLink or eSight server administrator.

    Create Conference

Specifies whether to provide the Create Conference function on the Conference Schedules screen on the endpoint's user interface.

    The default value is Enable.

    Q.931 keepalive

Specifies whether to enable the Q.931 keep-alive function to keep alive links between the Huawei endpoint and devices of other vendors. If this function is disabled, calls between the Huawei endpoint and devices of other vendors may be released abnormally.

    The default value is Enable.

  3. Click Save.

    The settings take effect immediately.
