Creating a HyperMetro Consistency Group

Creating a HyperMetro Consistency Group

Scenarios

If an application or one type of services requires multiple HyperMetro volumes and a preferred site needs to be determined by the system or quorum server when a fault occurs, add HyperMetro pairs owning such an application or services to a HyperMetro consistency group for centralized maintenance.

Perform this operation only for the local FusionStorage Block system.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
  • HyperMetro pairs in the same HyperMetro consistency group must belong to the same HyperMetro domain and have the same data synchronization direction.
  • Before creating the HyperMetro consistency group, you have paused the HyperMetro pairs you want to add to the HyperMetro consistency group.

Procedure

    1. On FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster, click Manage HyperMetro in the row where the cluster resides.
    2. Choose Consistency Group Management, and click Create.
    3. Set parameters for the consistency group.

Table 2-20 lists the configuration parameters.

Table 2-20  Consistency group configuration parameters

      Name

      Description

      Example Value

      Name

It must be a string of 1 to 31 characters starting with a letter or digit and can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, underscores (_),and hyphens (-).

      HCG01

      Preferred Site

Set the preferred site for the HyperMetro service.

      Local

      Restoration Policy

A restoration policy determines whether the system automatically synchronizes data after the fault is rectified.
      • Automatic: The system automatically synchronizes data.
      • Manual: Data synchronization must be performed manually.

      Automatic

      Synchronization Speed

Data replication speed of the HyperMetro service
      • Low: When the synchronization speed is set to Low, data synchronization takes a relative long period of time. This speed applies to scenarios where the service load is heavy. The speed is 1 MB/s.
      • Medium: When the synchronization speed is set to Medium, data synchronization takes a relative short period of time. This speed applies to scenarios where the service load is relatively heavy. The speed is 32 MB/s.
      • High: When the synchronization speed is set to High, data synchronization takes a short period of time. This speed applies to scenarios where the service load is relatively light. The speed is 256 MB/s.
      • Highest: When the synchronization speed is set to Highest, data synchronization takes the shortest period of time. This speed applies to scenarios where the service load is light. The speed is 1024 MB/s.
      Medium
      NOTE:
If the volumes used for creating the HyperMetro pair carry services and the service load changes constantly, you are advised to set the synchronization speed to Medium to ensure the proper running of services.

    4. Click Next.

The Select HyperMetro Domain page is displayed.

    5. Select the target HyperMetro domain and click Create.

      A dialog box is displayed.

    6. A message is displayed asking you whether to add HyperMetro pairs.

      • If yes, go to 7.
      • If no, click OK to finish creating the consistency group.

    7. Click Add.
    8. Select the HyperMetro pairs to be added to the group and click OK.
    9. Associate the consistency group as prompted.
