Disabling Protection for Secondary Resource


After protection for secondary resource is disabled, you can perform read and write operations on the secondary volume.

Before performing a primary/secondary switchover, you must disable protection for secondary resource.


  • You have created a remote replication pair and its running status is Split.
  • ALM-53008 Replication Remote Device Is Disconnected has been reported.
  • You have created a consistency snapshot for the secondary volume.
  • You have enabled protection for secondary resource.
  • You have not associated the remote replication pair with a consistency group.
  • You have unmapped or unmounted secondary volumes on hosts.


    1. In FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster. On the Disaster Recovery Service page, at the row where the cluster resides, click Manage Remote Replication, and select Remote Replication Pair Management.

      The Remote Replication Pair Management page is displayed.

    2. In the operation column of the remote replication pair where protection for secondary resource needs to be disabled, click More > Disable Protection for Secondary Resource.
    3. Confirm that you want to disable protection for secondary resource. Click Yes.
    4. Split the remote replication pair as prompted.
