Configuring the Arbitration Whitelist

Configuring the Arbitration Whitelist

Scenarios

When the quorum server is used for the HyperMetro service, the whitelist function is enabled for the quorum server by default, and you need to configure a whitelist. The quorum server software allows the storage systems to connect to the quorum server only after you configure a whitelist and add the serial numbers of both storage systems at the production and disaster recovery (DR) sites to the quorum server software.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
  • HyperMetro domains have been created.

Procedure

    Query the system serial numbers.

Log in to the FusionStorage Manager (FSM) node at the production site and DR site respectively to query the system serial numbers.

    1. Use PuTTY to log in to the FusionStorage Manager (FSM) node.

Ensure that username dsware and the management plane floating IP address are used to establish the connection. The default password of user dsware is IaaS@OS-CLOUD9!.

    2. Run the following command to switch to the specified directory:

      cd /opt/dsware/client/bin

    3. Run the following command to query the system serial number:

      NOTE:

Since the system has been hardened, you need to enter the username and password for login authentication after running the dswareTool command of FusionStorage Block. The default username is cmdadmin, and its default password is IaaS@PORTAL-CLOUD9!.

The system supports authentication using environment variables so that you do not need to repeatedly enter the username and password for authentication each time you run the dswareTool command. For details, see Authentication Using Environment Variables.

sh /opt/dsware/client/bin/dswareTool.sh --op drCmd -controlClusterId 0 -subOp QueryRepClsPSK

In the command, 0 specifies the control cluster ID.

Information similar to the following is displayed:
      id PSK Label repClsSn result
      -------------------------------------------------------------
      0 admin RCLS:f25eebdab0ad:e2ab2c:000 0
      -------------------------------------------------------------

    Configure the arbitration whitelist.

Add the system serial numbers queried from both the production site and DR site to the quorum server software.

    1. Use PuTTY to log in to the quorum server.
    2. Run the following command as user root to enter the command line mode:

      qsadmin

    3. Run the following command to add the system serial number to the quorum server software:

      add white_list sn=RCLS:f25eebdab0ad:e2ab2c:000

      admin:/>add white_list sn=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

      Command executed succesfully.

If you require that any DR cluster can be connected to the quorum server, do not configure the whitelist. You can run the change white_list enable_switch=no command to disable the whitelist function.
