Creating a Remote Device

Scenarios

This operation is used to guide administrators to create a remote device on FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.

Prerequisites
  • You have created address pools in both local and remote systems.
  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
Procedure

    1. On FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster.
    2. Locate the row that contains the target cluster and click to unfold the cluster details.
    3. On the Remote Device tab, click Create.

      The Create Remote Device page is displayed.

    4. Set the parameters on the page.

      • Local Address Pool Name: Enter the name of the local address pool where links to the remote device are established.
      • Remote Address Pool ID: Enter the remote address pool ID obtained from the remote system. On the web client of the remote system, locate the row that contains the remote DR cluster, click to unfold the cluster details, and obtain the address pool ID under the Address Pool tab.
      • Initial IP Addresses: Set the IP addresses that will be used for the communication with the peer site for the first time. Choose an IP address from the local address pool and an IP address from the remote address pool, respectively.
      • Listening Port: Set it to the listening port of the peer address pool.
      • Verify Remote Cluster Authentication Credential
        • Pre-shared Key Label: Set it to the pre-shared key label of the remote cluster.
        • Pre-shared Key: Set it to the pre-shared key of the remote cluster.

    5. Click OK.

      A dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation is successful.

    6. Click OK.

Modifying a Remote Device

Scenarios

After a remote device has been created, you can change the local address pool ID, remote address pool ID, and initial IP addresses in it.

Prerequisites
  • You have created a remote device.
  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
Procedure

    1. On FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster.
    2. Locate the row that contains the target cluster and click to unfold the cluster details.
    3. On the Remote Device tab, locate the row that contains the target remote device and click Modify.

      The Edit Remote Device page is displayed.

    4. Change the corresponding parameters.

      • Local Address Pool ID: Specifies the local address pool where links to the remote device are established.
      • Remote Address Pool ID: Obtain the value from the remote system. On the web client of the remote system, locate the row that contains the cluster, click to unfold the details, and obtain the address pool ID under the Address Pool tab.
      • Initial IP Addresses: Specifies the IP addresses used for the communication with the peer site for the first time. You can choose an IP address from the local and remote address pools, respectively.

    5. Click OK.

      A dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation is successful.

    6. Click OK.

Deleting a Remote Device

Scenarios

When a remote device is no longer used, you can delete this remote device.

Prerequisites
  • You have deleted all the HyperMetro services on this remote device.
  • You have deleted all the remote replication services on this remote device.
  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
Procedure

    1. On FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster.
    2. Locate the row that contains the target cluster and click to unfold the cluster details.
    3. On the Remote Device tab, locate the row that contains the target remote device and click Delete.

      A warning dialog box is displayed.

    4. Click Yes.

      A dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation is successful.

    5. Click OK.
