(Optional) Creating a Quorum Server

(Optional) Creating a Quorum Server

Scenarios

This operation is used to create a third-party quorum server for a HyperMetro domain. When the communication between storage devices in a HyperMetro pair is interrupted, the quorum server determines which storage device continues providing services, significantly improving service continuity.

Perform this operation for both the local and remote storage systems.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
  • The system time of FusionStorage Block and the quorum server is correct.
  • The service IP address of the quorum server is correctly configured, the quorum server can communicate with FusionStorage Block, and correct firewall port (30002) is enabled.
  • The whitelist of the quorum server is correctly configured. You do not need to check this item if the default security policy is used.

Procedure

    Configure the arbitration whitelist.

When the quorum server is used for the HyperMetro service, the whitelist function is enabled for the quorum server by default, and you need to configure a whitelist. The quorum server software allows the storage systems to connect to the quorum server only after you configure a whitelist and add the serial numbers of both storage systems at the production and disaster recovery (DR) sites to the quorum server software.

    1. Configure the arbitration whitelist. For details, see Configuring the Arbitration Whitelist.

    Creating a Quorum Server

    1. On FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster, click Manage HyperMetro in the row where the cluster resides.
    2. On the Quorum Server Management page, click Create.
    3. Set parameters for connecting the quorum server.

Table 2-17 lists the configuration parameters.
