Creating a Remote Replication Consistency Group

Creating a Remote Replication Consistency Group

Scenarios

A remote replication consistency group consists of multiple remote replication pairs that have dependent service relationships and same configurations and is used to simply configuration management. Data consistency in the consistency groups is guaranteed by data policies.

Perform this operation only for the local FusionStorage Block system.

Prerequisites

  • You have logged in to FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform.
  • Before a remote replication consistency group is created, remote replication pairs to be added to this consistency group need to be split up.
  • Pairs to be added belong to the same remote device as the consistency group and the data synchronization directions of the pairs and consistency group are the same.

Procedure

    1. On FusionStorage Block Self-Maintenance Platform, choose DR Service > dr > DR Cluster, click RepRm Pair Management in the row where the cluster resides.
    2. Select Consistency Group Management and click Create.
    3. Set parameters for the consistency group.

Table 2-22 lists the configuration parameters.

      Name

It must be a string of 1 to 31 characters starting with a letter or digit and can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, underscores (_),and hyphens (-).

      Replication Mode

      • Asynchronous: A success response is returned when data writes complete on the local end. The written data will be synchronized to the remote end later to ensure data consistency.Currently, only this mode is supported.
      • Synchronous: A success response is returned only when data writes complete on both the local and remote ends.

      Asynchronous

      Restoration Policy

A restoration policy determines whether the system automatically synchronizes data after the fault is rectified.
      • Automatic: The system automatically synchronizes data.
      • Manual: Data synchronization must be performed manually.

      Remote Device ID

The system automatically identifies IDs. Select an ID of a corresponding device.

      Synchronization Type

      • Manual: You need to manually start data synchronization.
      • Timed wait when synchronization starts: Period from the time a synchronization starts to the time the next synchronization starts. If this period is shorter than the synchronization time, complete the current synchronization before starting the next one.
      • Timed wait when synchronization ends: Period from the time a synchronization ends to the time the next synchronization starts.
      • Specify the time policy: Synchronization starts at a defined time point.
        • Daily: Synchronization starts at a defined time point every day.
        • Hourly: Synchronization starts at a defined time point every hour.

      Manual

    4. Click Create.
    5. Whether to associate a remote replication pair.

      • If yes, go to 6.
      • If no, click OK to finish creating the consistency group.

    6. Click here.
    7. Select the remote replication pair to be added to the group and click OK.
    8. Associate the consistency group as prompted.
