This document describes the division of responsibilities between Huawei and customers during the deployment of the Dorado18000 V3 storage system and the tasks that need to be completed before the installation.

Transportation Requirements

To transport the Dorado18000 V3 storage system from the unloading site to an equipment room securely, learn about the sizes, weights, and packaging requirements of bays before the transporting.

Each bay of the Dorado18000 V3 storage system is protected by specially designed packaging. In a crate, a bay is seated on a dedicated pallet and wrapped with buffer materials. Unless otherwise specified, Huawei is responsible for transporting the storage system to the customer's equipment room. To secure the device transportation, Huawei has built a cooperation relationship with qualified moving companies who provide professional personnel and facilities for the device transportation.

The unloading site must meet the following requirements:

  • Store bays for a period of time and provide convenient transportation.
  • When bays are unloaded onto a dedicated platform, note the adjustable height of the lifting table if it is present to check whether it can dock with a truck. Otherwise, ensure that the truck has a tail lift for platform docking.
  • Provide a 2000 mm (W) x 6000 mm (D) space for each bay.

Before transporting a bay, arrange for transportation tools, and check that passages between buildings and elevators on the installation site meet requirements in Table 3-1

When transporting the storage system, note the following:

  • Build inclines along the stairs of transportation passages and the slope does not exceed 10°, and the ground crack cannot exceed 20 mm and roughness height cannot exceed 3 mm, as shown in Figure 3-1.

After removing a bay from the packing box, do not use a pallet truck to transport the bay or lift the bay over stairs.

  • To prevent leveling feet from being damaged, do not push a bay up an incline whose inclination exceeds 10°.

    Because the front end of a bay is heavier, note the following when carrying a bay up an incline:

    • When carrying a bay down an incline, keep the back end of the bay facing the carrying direction.
    • When carrying a bay up an incline, keep the front end of the bay facing the carrying direction.
    • Whether carrying a bay up or down an incline, arrange at least two persons to hold the back end of the bay.

If a bay topples and falls, evade the bay quickly against injuries instead of keeping holding it.

  • Wrap the protruding parts of transportation passages and elevator gates with buffer materials and fix these materials with gummed tapes.
  • Place an elevator-crossing plate between an elevator and the floor to prevent the casters of a bay from being stuck in the gap.
  • Ensure that a bay plus personnel does not overload the elevator.

If an elevator is overloaded, remove some disks (excluding coffer disks) from a bay to ensure that the bay plus personnel weighs less than 75% of the elevator's maximum load capacity.

If the passages and elevators on the installation site cannot provide required load capacity and space for a bay, contact Huawei headquarters and use a crane to lift the bay.
